Dec 11, 2013 8:23 PM in response to Barney-15Eby Chatajack,Also, when adding users do I have to put one in for each of the iDevices I am using or will they all work under the one username?

Dec 11, 2013 8:31 PM in response to Chatajackby Barney-15E,For the Calendars, this is one thing I realize I didn't check. However, a quck checks shows it works as advertised. You can add new calendars either in the Baikal Users page, or on Calendar on your Mac.
There is no way to drag calendars between accounts (that I've found). I did help someone with an applescript that moved them, but I never can find the things I've posted previously. It wasn't a great result, but better than having to do it manually with all events. If I can find it, I'll link it.
As to this question, you just create one user. You then access that one account on every device. But, you can go crazy and set up multiple "accounts" if you want. That might give you more organizing capability (looks like you have a lot of calendars).

Dec 11, 2013 8:42 PM in response to Barney-15Eby Chatajack,Ok.
Next step:
Adding the Calendars and Address Books to your Mac
Note that these instructions are also in the INSTALL.md file in the Baïkal server folder.
- Open Internet Accounts System Preferences.
- Click on Add Other Account…
Where is 'Open Internet Accounts System Preferences'?

Dec 11, 2013 8:42 PM in response to Chatajackby Barney-15E,I found what I was looking for. You can't move events across an account, so I don't think it will be helpful moving your calendar events over to the other account. You may be able to export then import. I haven't tried that.
You can manually right-click on the event and choose another calendar to move it to.

Dec 11, 2013 8:51 PM in response to Chatajackby Barney-15E,Where is 'Open Internet Accounts System Preferences'?
The System Preferences are where you set up the Mac. You can access it in the Apple Menu.
When it opens, select Internet Accounts.
Or, in Calendar or Mail, choose Accounts… from the Application menu (Calendar or Mail).
On the right-hand side of the window where all the account types are listed, scroll to the bottom. That's where you'll find Add other account…

Dec 11, 2013 10:02 PM in response to Barney-15Eby Chatajack,Please confirm: Does it not work with what was already there? I am noticing that my calendar is not updating to my phone on what it is already in there. Same with my contacts. Is that right? Is it only what is created with in the new contacts and calendars that is going to transfer?

Dec 12, 2013 4:49 AM in response to Chatajackby Barney-15E,You have to put all of the information into the Calendar account / Contacts account. It doesn't just grab the other stuff. You need to transfer it to the new Baikal accounts.
The stuff that is there is on the iCloud account. You need to move it to the Baikal account.
You can use the Export commands in the File menu of each program to export them to an archive for each (Calendars and Contacts) so you have a backup.
Then, you'll have to move the events and contacts into the Baikal account in each of the programs.

Dec 12, 2013 6:34 AM in response to Chatajackby James Richards,Once I had my Baïkal server set up, I had to transfer my calendars from "On my Mac" to whatever my Baïkal account is called ("My local Calendars" in my case).
In order to do this I had to go through the following steps for each Calendar (for safety's sake I suggest you first click the File menu and choose 'Export' 'Calendar Archive…' and save a complete set of your calendar data), then:
- Select the calendar you want to transfer
- Choose 'Export' from the File menu, and choose the 'Export…' option.
- Save your calendar to a convenient location
- From the File menu choose 'New Calendar and select the name of your Baïkal account to create the calendar onto your Baïkal account, and give your calendar a name 9it can be the same as the name of your 'On my Mac' calendar.
- Choose 'Import' from the File menu, choose the 'Import…' option and select the calendar file you have just exported. Click the 'Import' button
- A dialog pops up saying 'Adding a new event. This calendar contains a new event. Please select a destination calendar' and there is a drop down menu with your default calendar showing.
- From the drop down menu choose the Baïkal calendar which you have just created and which you want to import your data into and click 'OK'.
Once you have done this you should have a duplicate sets of calendars in your 'On my Mac' and Baïkal accounts. In theory you can simply delete the 'On my Mac' calendars. Alternatively you can simply deactivate them, until you are happy that all your data has transferred, and then delete them at a later date. You will also have a further duplicate of this information in the .ics files you have exported onto your computer (these can safely be deleted.
Finally to make sure you get your older events onto your iPhone, tap 'Settings' on your phone's home screen and then tap 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars' and scroll down until you come to the heading 'Calendars'. Select the 'Sync' item and choose how far back you want your Sync to go (2 weeks, 1 month - default, 3 months, 6 months or All Events). Hope this helps. James

Dec 12, 2013 8:08 AM in response to Barney-15Eby wiredancer,Hello Barney
I don't seem to get all the way to making Baikal work. Please help (-:
I have a hard time to follow all the tech talk. It looks like my server is runing, but I'm not 100% sure. And befor investigating any further I would like to understand a few things and tell me if I'm correct:
- One element is the Server from Apple. Kind of a virtual machine, right.
- Then there is this Baikal Server which is now supposed tu run on my Server, on my computer.
- now I would have to feed this Baikal with the Calendars and the Address Book, or better, set the path so that my address book and calendar are linked with Baikal, correct?
- and last, I need to tell all my devices where to sync to, in order for them to get synced with what information comes via Baikal.
Am I understanding the structure correctli?
Then, I would like to check if my Baikal server is all setup correctly and runing properly, is this possible to do?
When I enter https://localhost:8443/admin in Safari, I get /admin. Is this ok?
Could it be that I am not entering the correct user name and pass word?
How can I find the user and pass of my Baikal server, I'm not 100% sure if I remember what it was?
Really sorry for all the questions. I'm an amateur, but devoted. If you can help me later on.... would be fantastic.
