Jan 8, 2014 2:03 PM in response to wiredancerby peter_watt,You bought Mountain Lion I guess? Restore it from Time Machine. You can continue to use it.
Somewhere you must have ticked "I agree" when you upgraded. Dont waste money on a lawyer, you will lose.

Apple has taken away a product, a function, based on which I had purchased their products. My business is damaged because of this issue. Wouldn't I have the right to continue using the purchased product as they had propagated it?
Isn't this fraud if I can't and they have mislead me? To make believe that you can do certain things with a product, but then you can not, that's fraud.
Mountain Lion still works the same as it did when you bought it. Your Mac still works the same as when you bought it. Having installed Mavericks voluntarily, it still works the same way as it did when you got it for free.

Jan 8, 2014 5:07 PM in response to wiredancerby petermac87,Section 7 in the Software Licensing Agreement you agreed to when you installed Mavericks (You do read things before you sign them, don't you?) has Apple very well covered, and nulls your arguement.

Jan 8, 2014 8:07 PM in response to wiredancerby brollyjohn,Mavericks is pretty much Apple's Vista. It's a work in progress and it was released way too soon. IOS and OSX are merging into one OS in the not so distant future. OS X will have to give way.
Check out the app store ratings on Mavericks, Imovie, Iphoto, Pages, Numbers and Keynote.
You get what you pay for.

Jan 8, 2014 9:57 PM in response to petermac87by brollyjohn,Don't be modest You're a much more prodigious troll than I'll ever be. Your data is wrong anyway.
Current Version: 717 Ratings
All Versions: 16766 Ratings

I think the top review sums it up well.
"oh god be careful."

Truely? 717? And what is the star rating for Mavericks. Please dont post iPhoto figures etc. as it will be off topic.

Jan 8, 2014 11:33 PM in response to petermac87by brollyjohn,Yeah you're right posting more terrible (1 star) Imovie, Iphoto, Pages, Numbers and Keynote ratings is off topic.
Sorry, I would have replied sooner but Mavericks froze up on me and crashed (sadly a true story).
Now I'll just search this discussion for Barney's explanation on how to restore back to ML from Mavericks without a backup.
This should be fun.

How to locally sync an iPhone with OS X Mavericks? iCloud is NOT an option.
That was the topic and still is the topic.

Jan 9, 2014 7:47 AM in response to Gerrit7by mausalista,I've been following this discussion since day one and haven't contributed yet. But I've just come across an article by SOPHOS Security which I think may interest many of you who think about keeping/reverting back to an older OS. The article says that Apple has implemented a whole string of vital security updates on Mavericks, but failed to provide those updates on the previous operating systems. So it seems that Apple has stopped supporting them, including Mountain Lion which is only 15(?) months old. I quote from Sophos' article and post the link to it but not sure whether this will get deleted by the powers that be.
Quote from the article:
"Without saying it in so many words, or any words for that matter, Appleappears to have stopped releasing security updates for OS X 10.6.8, 10.7.5 and 10.8.5.
It is a nice gesture that OS X 10.9 Mavericks is a free upgrade, but not everyone can upgrade. OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion has only been available for 15 months and is apparently already orphaned.
Microsoft has been taking heat for discontinuing Windows XP after supporting it for more than 12 years. I think Apple might be able to do a little better than 15 months.
If you are an Apple user, please update to OS X Mavericks or if you can't, perhaps install Windows 7 or Linux.
If you must run an older version of OS X, you may want to follow the advice Duck and I had in a recent Techknow for Windows XP users to minimize the risk of compromise."
And here's the SOPHOS article discussing the security issues:

Jan 9, 2014 7:55 AM in response to mausalistaby gumsie,Yep, cheeky gits. My company is only upgrading to Win7 and probably only because support has been dropped. I believe this is one reason why Apple will never gain serious traction in business unless the whole business IT landscape and way of thinking changes.
Companies want long term OS support not a change every year and obsolescence in a few years.
