Jan 25, 2014 2:18 AM in response to snozdopby peter_watt,I was adding to your discussion by stating that other manufacturers like Blackberry used the sync services code in OSX which may have been at odds with your sentence...
" ....it was a proprietary, closed, Apple-only framework. No other device or OS manufacturers use it, so there's no interoperability. "
Please do not be offended by my remarks, merely adding to the debate.

If you really mean sharing with others, are you absolutely sure
they are as diligent with security and privacy as you????

Thank you to submit this link again. This Thread is SO long. I was looking for the link.
It bring a solution to the problem and this what we are expecting here....
NOOOOOoooooo.
This is EXACTLY what we are not looking for.
We baught Apple to AVOID this kind of solution.
This is not Unix system (it is ?) nor Windows (without any solution)
Apple hardware and software should be easy to use, WITH respect with user expectation.
Sir, don't be upset by my post. I am talking to Apple Staff more than you.
Apple Staff should be reading now : 200 000 reading, 2 200 post ! Are they ?
Sync, sync, sync ! that is a subject !
Should I say iCloud, iCloud, iCloud ?

I am sad to hear that. They may learn a lot from there client in such forum.
I have already send us a feedback.
I hop they will listen, even if we are not so many to be concern by iCloud.
Yesterday Numbers was udated. A lot of remark post here was taken into account.
Thanks to all.

Jan 25, 2014 1:07 PM in response to OAADKTBAby Barney-15E,They didn't update Numbers because of posts here. The completely rewrote iWork to integrate with iPad version and to clean out the old code. They didn't intend to release a finished product which is why they left the old apps on your hard drive. They released a functional, albeit incomplete, product to begin the transition. The version I itially released was not meant to replace the current versions right now. The plan is to release added functionality as it becomes stable.
The softWare engineers have never been known to ever pay attention to these forums, but as they seem to have adopted an Agile development process with iWork, that may be changing.

Jan 25, 2014 1:46 PM in response to OAADKTBAby drowningindata,A recent article by *David Pogue in the latest Scientific American discusses the issue of cloud services:
We’re Forced to Use Cloud Services—but at What Cost?
Online services are no longer optional. So who's in control of your data?
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/were-forced-to-use-cloud-services-but- at-what-cost/
David comes down on the side of users and makes many good points. The crux of his article is that if users are forced to use cloud computing to sync they are no longer in control of our data.
* David Pogue is the anchor columnist for Yahoo Tech and host of several NOVA miniseries on PBS

Yes, they did use a framework provided by Apple, which Apple officially deprecated over two years ago. At that point, it was up to them to find another method for their customers. They apparently just sat on their collective behinds, instead.

Jan 25, 2014 5:21 PM in response to Barney-15Eby woody123456,I STILL dont understand HOW apple can just decide that from this point forward we MUST use i cloud if we want to transfer OUR data..!!! WHY are we allowing this...!!

Jan 25, 2014 5:27 PM in response to woody123456by Csound1,As has been pointed out endlessly, as well as in the post you replied to.
You do not have to use iCloud, there are many services available, pick one.

Jan 25, 2014 5:50 PM in response to Csound1by Mike-B,Would you stop being so obtuse.
As has been pointed out to YOU so many times the issue is not specifically iCloud, it's with needing any cloud service to syncronise something that should be achivable locally (USB or WiFi).
You are only making yourself appear as either a shill or foolish. This is clearly not the thread for you.

Jan 25, 2014 5:52 PM in response to Mike-Bby Csound1,There are two solutions that do not require iCloud or any cloud in this thread already, use one of them.

Jan 25, 2014 6:03 PM in response to Csound1by Mike-B,Yawn, yet again you trot your your cut-n-paste troll reply.
These solutions while possible are in no way suitable for what I would suggest are the majority of Apple ecosystem users who expect the 'It Just Works' philosophy to apply with something as fundamental as syncing data between devices.
It's astonishing that you fail to grasp that by either making their thoughts known here or via the feedback page, people have a vaild right to make their displeasure known and ask for the re-instatement of an expected feature.
Whether Apple decide to do anything about it is another matter; one - thankfully - that you have nothing to do with.
