Ironic that Local sync still works on windows computers and not with macs.

Now that the iphone has been dumbed down, those cheap android phones and tablets are looking pretty sweet! They won't sync locally either!

Thanks for advice. have sent feedback to apple. Will attempt to set up server. Or just get a nice leather bound agenda/planner.

Wow. 16 pages in only a week on this discussion. Smelll something burning apple?

Wait till all those people who miss their personal and business meetings next week join in. It's going to get a little bit nastier.

    Exactly.

Why should the Mac be crippled while Windows retains full iTunes functionality?

As a Mac user, doesn't that infuriate you? If not, why the **** not?

Apple, are you nuts? Bring back local sync, NOW!

Androids can sync locally.... you just don't use itunes. Most people who use Androids don't go buy music from a store anyway they just download it straight to the phone. You also don't have to worry about losing your music if you have to reflash the OS since it's on a seperate partition. Even if you lost music you purchased you just search for the song and redownload it, you don't have to go to a special section to redownload anything because it actually rememebers what youv'e downloaded.

Reply to wrong message, but correct message no longer available.

Some folks keep posting a link to a petition, Apple keeps removing the posts.

The petition itself has a privacy issue to me. It *requires* address, city, state and zip code.  All contribute to a privacy issue for me.  I have no idea who hosts this petition site, do not trust people I have no relationship with my contact info.

I want local/USB sync restored as much as the next person, but exposing my contact information to one site is as bad, (maybe worse) than exposing it to iCloud.

Right now the only thing I have in iCloud is mail, and reminders.  With mail I treat all my email as if I were sending a postcard, and who cares if someone knows I need to pickup my dry cleaning.  But that is as far as I am willing to trust iCloud or any other cloud.

I hope Apple is spending as much time (well more monitoring this thread) giving us a local contact and calendar syncing.

Can effectively turn off iCloud I still have my @me.com email?  Just trying to make sure that none of my computers connect to  iCloud and do something I did not intend.

So far I have not seen any other solution to local control of my calendar and contact info other than server.  Still looking, still waiting, still reading and researching.

Now that local syncing is gone, I can no longer sync any contacts or calendars at all to my iPod Classic, and the contacts and calendars that used to be in there have all been removed. Apple still sells the iPod Classic and it's disappointing that such a feature would just be dropped.

I'm hoping that a third party comes up with a solution to local syncing.

  • Matt Schultz Level 1 (55 points)

That feature is still available in iTunes for Windows.

  • Király Level 6 (9,740 points)

Yes I know; that makes it all the more disappointing.

Indeed I did, Andy, indeed I did.

Other concerned users should remember that this issue encompasses three areas, so feedback should be provided to Apple through the relevant channels for iPhone, iTunes and Mac OS X at:

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

Feedback to Apple should always be constructive, informative and non-abusive. They are an intelligent company and they are more likely to respond to intelligent argument than flame-filled demands.

I may also have mentioned my concerns to a greater voice.

APPLE, Bring back local iTunes / Device sync !

Many of your PAYING customers are upset, rely on this feature set, and do not want to use iCloud.

    Bring it back !!!

  • kb4200 Level 2 (235 points)

Anytime you sign a petition it'll ask for that info, it's used to make sure your a real person. Say someone made a petition and you didn't use that info to sign it, then someone could technically just make up users to sign the petition.

    To All,

Apart from feedback through the secret channels to Apple, those of you who have already downloaded and installed Mavericks could also rate it and provide a reasonably factual review (otherwise may not be displayed) in the App Store. Please highlight the fact that calendar and contacts can no longer be synced without iCloud, as I guess most of the new users would not have a clue, as it is not mentioned anywhere.
