Q: How to locally sync an iPhone with OS X Mavericks? iCloud is NOT an option.

I read that OS X Mavericks will no longer allow me to use iTunes to sync my iPhone to a local system but makes iCloud mandatory? Is that correct?

iCloud is not a valid option for me since I have no control about my data there, I need to keep all my data (contacts, calendar...) on a system under my control and so far iTunes allowed me to do that which was one of the reasons I didn't even consider Android or Windows Phone.

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

There are other options mentioned here. If you spent as much time trying to find one that suits as you spend here arguing, then you may find your workaround you are seeking.

Especially if you don't worry about such niceties as spelling.

Mature and highly technical outlook. Perhaps you can write a poem about it.

    Good luck

Yes there is: Try running this though a spell checker  "I do have a bun" I meant to say "I do have a brain" the spell check see both as right.  But it's not just the spelling that is a problem it is that some times/often I cut my topics shourt and often to the detrment of understanding.  Sorry for the off topic.

One of the resions for having my notes sync'ed with my laptop is spell checking and editing is easer on a laptop.

There is no such word as roude, and the spellchecker would have known. It's rude of you not to use the tools provided to you in order not to be unintelligible, or don't you care?

If Apple can provide local sync for pictures, music and movies - why can't they provide local sync for Contacts, Bookmarks and Calendars? I do not understand this.

I do not want anything of mine to be on any cloud. Apple need to understand that local sync is a requirement for most of us. Although some argue that it is difficult to program I cannot agree. Programmers can implement it and most Apple users want it. How about OS X 10.9.2?

    see: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/were-forced-to-use-cloud-services-but- at-what-cost/

for a great description of the cloud problem.

I have already answered two peoples off topic posts to defend my self and now a long standing user makes another off topic post that demands I defend my self.  First you have no way of knowing if I used the spell checker or not because even if I do use the spell checker how am I ment (the spell checker says "meant" but both are highlighted,  wrong)  to know what word to choose from the list it offers?  The top two offers for "roude" are "rude" and "rode" Now if I had clicked on "rode" insted of "rude" you may think I did not use the spell checker when I did.

    Yes I do care.

You can't know if I use a spell checker or not.

I do use a spell checker

You worked out that I meant "rude"

Most people don't have a good understanding of dyslexer it's not just spelling and reading.

As for being unintelligible (if thats the case there is no way to answer any of my posts as if my posts are uninteligible then there is no way to know how to answer them).

Now lets stop this off topic stuff, but I will not laydown to be walked over I will defend my self.

I was diagnosed as dyslexic, but instead of letting that be an excuse I forced myself to improve. Don't tell me what I don't understand, it's another excuse.

Bully for you.  Apropos as you seen to do only bullyinig on this thread.

Why do you participate in the overall degradation of the discourse here?  I fail to see what value is brought forth by many of your comments.  But, as I'm sure you will point out to me, you have the permission here to participate as you see fit (with Apple's guidlines) and we - as other participants here - have a right or permission to ignore postings here.

Focus on the intent rather on the message itself.

It seem this topic should die down other than for those newly experiencing the results of Apple's decisions and to seek guidance here.

Go for it while I ignore this topic for a day or two until your venting is complete.

I am happy to talk about this but this forum is not the place.
