I haven't seen it mentioned in these forums yet. So people can sync their contacts and calanders by usb cable again? That's great news.
Thanks

May 11, 2015 8:37 AM in response to Gerrit7by userremoved,Since my last monitoring of this thread, throughout my research related to this current issue, I will admit that I am simply at a lost for answers. For myself, the removal of the ability to sync across Apple related products such as I Phone to Laptop, or I Pad to Laptop, void of using the cloud just has me beat. This has caused me to unintentionally see these two peripherals of main system, the iPad and iPhone, simply not as useful.
I have further found out that the Microsoft application suite which features Microsoft’s Outlook has had its syncing ability stripped as well. Its as if I have been sold a car without an engine? At any rate, I have been forced to not sync my bookmarks (or favorites) with iCloud and has hastened my search for alternatives. I hate to say this, as I have been an absolute loyalist when it has come to apple products in the past and it is with great regret to see that Apple has lost their way. Good luck and I hope a solution can be made to accommodate you.

May 11, 2015 8:37 AM in response to Barney-15Eby userremoved,I guess I’m referring to a simple solution that doesn’t involve me wiping my operating system to sync my bookmarks.

Don't use the internet, then you will be pretty safe, don't use mobile phones and you will be safer. Never leave your house, that will help as well.

Feb 26, 2014 2:35 AM in response to Csound1by TopSteve,Yes to both Csound1 and petermac87
I posted in response to peter_watt's irresponsible post. It must never be stated something is 100% safe.
petermac87 yes your right but the responsibility for the safety of a local system is down to the owner of the local system. Assuming we go with Csound1's post and add to it that life is not 100% safe. It should be a matter of chose as to what parts of life we live and tack responsiblity for.
The situation is that before Mavericks, the programmers of the Mac OS had allowed us some choice in our responsibilities over the safety of our data. Now the programmers have removed that choice and insist on the use of iCloud (a 3rd party).

Feb 26, 2014 2:57 AM in response to peter_wattby TopSteve,Do you relay think any system can be 100% safe?
What about hardware failure?
What about data corruption?
What about bugs(software or hardware)?
What about hacking(the bad kind)?
Do you relay think any system can be 100% safe from these things?
Do you think that saying that no system is 100% safe from these things is twaddle?
