The situation is that before Mavericks, the programmers of the Mac OS had allowed us some choice in our responsibilities over the safety of our data. Now the programmers have removed that choice and insist on the use of iCloud (a 3rd party).
WE KNOW!!!!! And you do not have to use iCloud for the thousanth time. Give it a rest, Dude!

What about hardware failure?
What about data corruption?
What about bugs(software or hardware)?
What about hacking(the bad kind)?
Do you relay think any system can be 100% safe from these things?
Do you think that saying that no system is 100% safe from these things is twaddle?
OK let's say icloud is 99.999% safe instead of 99.99% safe. Happy?
(The rest was still twaddle.)
Now go and finish your blog and get rid of the bird on the surf board.

Feb 26, 2014 7:40 AM in response to Gerrit7by feinmeister,For those of you that want to return to OS Lion for the reasons enumerated in this thread and because of recent security issue with Mavericks that also impacted iCloud (and that's the nasty fear that many of us have had), here's a good how-to article from OSX Daily

could someone please help me with my English.
something strikes me in this article. I quote
"...may want to go to OS X Mountain Lion instead of Mavericks for compatibility reasons, or to avoid some of the

with Mail app and iCloud syncing that have frustrated some using current versions of 10.9.1 (those are since resolved with 10.9.2,..."
Is it meaning that OS X 10 point nine point two resolves this issue, or must I go to school again?
Thanks

Feb 26, 2014 9:10 AM in response to Ryksby Matt Schultz,Just updated our lab's test machine to Mavericks 10.9.2. There are so many bugs, holes and flaws in 10.9, we won't modify any of the other Mac systems we have remaining in house, all of which are working fine.
Here's the killer. The iCloud preferences were changed by the 10.9.2 installer to favor the "service."
Had to pull the Ethernet cable out of the computer to stop iCloud from completely deleting all Calendars and Contacts on the machine. A lot of damage was done, however... was forced to replace Contacts and Calendars from the back-up. A**holes! This was infuriating.
We consider this a form of data theft. They replaced one security flaw with another. And how is deleting data off a customer's drive an upgrade?
This is how they get 320 million iCloud accounts.
BTW, unfortunately, there is no change to iTunes in terms of local sync in 10.9.2. They've gone in just the opposite direction, actually.

I have upgraded 4 machines (so far), none had their preferences changed.
What were the changes?

No changes here on any of our Mac's iCloud settings or data. Sounds a bit like sour grapes because some presumed local sync would be introduced in an incremental update because a few regular visitors to a troubleshooting forum stomped their feet.
What changes are you seeing?

May 11, 2015 8:37 AM in response to petermac87by userremoved,Hi PeterMac87,
You seem very upset that Top Steve wants to sync his (bookmarks) favorites without relying on I cloud? To be sure, as you have stated, "WE KNOW!!!!! And you do not have to use iCloud for the thousandth time. Give it a rest, Dude" does not in anyway solve what seems by many a very reasonable functionality that consumers want. Being that you’re a level 4 and would surly know more about this than I, are you aware of any other thread that has generated nearly a quarter million “views”? I could not find any? This numerical value alone would lead me to believe that this is of great concern for people and cant help but think of how many Apple consumers that are not happy about this that did not take the time to post on this thread. I myself, am no longer interested in achieving a, “workaround” and even if Apple does create a update to reinstate this functionality, I can’t help but recognize this particular action relays volumes on their current corporate environment and because of this, fields equipment that “I” can no longer rely on. I would genuinely appreciate not being attacked for feeling this way.

No, I couldn't care less what he WANTS to do, he has been given many options as to what he CAN do, and there is no reason why he needs to use iCloud. Nor do you. Repeating the same basic grievance over and overand over and thread jumping to that extent (you have read the whole thread have you not?) is not helpful to troubleshooting an issue. As is your post not helpful. What is your question? If you only wish to whinge then
Tell Apple.

Red rag to a bull that. The retina MacBook pro screen issue was one I think. But I agree this is a sizeable issue, just not the only one.

Well you will be. The Fanbois are about to attack you in droves........

No problem, I would be happy to help you, A question that I had asked in my thread was, "Being that you’re a level 4 and would surly know more about this than I, are you aware of any other thread that has generated nearly a quarter million “views”? Since your a level 7, maybe you have resources that petermac87 does not have and could find out? I really looked and could not find any other subject that received so much interest? Maybe a record has been broken? Thanks for taking the time if you can get the answer.
