Kill you?!? I don't think I would want your job or your clients!

Are they happy you are using non compliant tools, and keep a copy on your phone which can be lost? Is it encrypted on the phone?

Yes I understand "Bird" I'm british but what do you mean by "...and get rid of the bird on the surf board."

Feb 26, 2014 3:08 PM in response to Gerrit7by iW00,When I went to System Preferences and opened iCloud I found that all the options were checked. They were not checked before because I do not want my data to be on the iCloud. Apple gave no notice that the default would be changed in this upgrade.
Apple seems to have adopted a new policy that we all use iCloud by default and they have now made it a policy to make that so with their upgrades.
Things are getting worse.
I'm sorry, but if you are against iCloud, why would you even bother to sign in with your Apple ID and take that risk of this options to be checked by Apple with SW update?
Like others said. Few different machines, each updated to 10.9.2. Nothing did change in iCloud pane by itself. Still remains the same...

The last page of your blog until recently was a woman on a surf board. The standard blog starter page with latin text. Maybe you hadn't noticed. Anyway she is gone. And this is seriously off topic now.

A device password and a strap? I apologise, your clients data is in safe hands.
Seriously though, you have taken a pragmatic view, assessed the risk of having the phone snatched while it is still lit up as being low enough (despite it being a common practice on the streets) and that the strap will always be round your wrist, then decided it is safe enough for your needs.
I took the same assessment with icloud, but based on a much more rigorous security protocol which is orders of magnitude greater than the relatively probable street snatch scenario.

Have you installed Mac OS recently?
The setup assistant nags for an iCloud login, the App Store does the same.
Users want to access their iTunes purchases or may also want to use Mail.app with an iCloud email address. Once you hand over details for one part of the OS the credentials are saved & end up pre-populating other places where an Apple ID is used.
I'm all for integration, however it is spread across so many places it's tough to ensure that something isn't happening behind your back. You do realise that many people will use Apple's 'FindMy…' service & no other iCloud services - does that make it OK to upload your contact data to the web?
Do you seriously want to argue that enabling sync without user interaction is a good thing?
Is this really the users own fault?
Gain some perspective - consider if this service wasn't owned by Apple - would it be appropriate if Facebook or Twitter was able to do the same with an app update?

Feb 26, 2014 4:08 PM in response to Drew Reeceby Yule,I was being brief. here is a fuller answer - I would like to be able to find my devices if they get stolen. To do this I need to have iCloud active and turn on the Find My Mac option and its equivalent in each device. This is in response to the question why I activated iCloud if I do not want my data in iCloud.
