Let me make myself clear, I have been a Unix administrator for over 30 years. I use the Internet and have used it since the mid 80's. I am very careful what service and what companies I trust. I don't want to trust my notes, SMS messages, contacts and such to yet another company. For my phone to function I have to trust my phone carrier and we have seen how well those folks have kept things private, NOT. I want to back up my data to my private storage where my rights are well defined. Data storage at a third party has yet to be fully tested in the courts.
I'm done here. This is a religious discussion without rationality. No one wins.
yes I agree also with Unix guru statement:
This is a "religiuous" discussion where (no one hear) and no one wins.
This is my last appearance in this discussion.
Bye everybody

Good ridance and thanks for adding nothing of value, except demeaning religion.

No, it isn't. Apple removed any way for me to sync my contacts, notes and calendars with my iDevices. All my information has to be copied by hand between my devices and the only data to/from my computer is apps and media.

You come to this thread to make uninformed comments without READING any of the threads and seeing all the alternatives on offer?

Much as I'd love to be able to agree with you, (and trust me I would - there are far too many blind Apple-ogists around here), I'm not sure that they completely removed local sync.
They also gave us a local Server based option which should cover the services removed. It's a bit of a mission for some to get working but it's there nonetheless.

Sorry matey, total drivel which you would know if you had read all 216 pages.
Why is is when the battle is almost over that new recruits feel it is time to come in and bayonet the wounded?
If indeed the whingers have won the battle, it is because some mighty corporation or professional association with real buying power leaned on Apple, not the tin foil hat brigade who made this thread monumentally entertaining for months. I will miss it!

TOU = Terms Of Use. You agreed to them when you joined this site, so I presumed you read them.

Citation please. If not, is it not possible that your post qualifies as drivel also?

The sentence you misquoted starts with IF
How can anyone take you seriously when you deliberately use their posts to mislead.
Shame on you.

Or more likely, Apple never intended to completely remove USB syncing at all, but their alternative to SyncServices simply was not ready for when Mavericks was released?

The only local storage of that data is the device backup.
petermac87, if you want to keep referring to the TOU I suggest you read it first: Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Constructive feedback about product features is welcome as well. If your Submission contains the phrase "I'm sorry for the rant, but…" you are likely in violation of this policy.
As such, I will no longer respond to your trolling.
