Mar 21, 2014 6:04 AM in response to Gerrit7by j. michael,I've used Macs since 1986 and recently bought an iMac 27" - this is the first time I regret buying Apple.
I nearly missed 2 doctor's appointments because my iPhone 5s wasn't picking up the appointments from my Mavericks calendar on the iMac. These specialists appointments take many months to set up and charge penalties if I miss the appointments. I have serious medical issues that are potentially life-threatening.
I'm disgusted that Apple would mess up MacOS and not even warn users major inconveniences would occur when combining Mavericks with iOS and older MacOS devices. My ISP account racked up huge uploads when I bought the iMac as iCloud backups were enabled by default. I also did not appreciate being on the NSA library list for 24/7 personal data lookup without my permission. That's why iCloud was turned off. But at no time did Apple Support mention calendar syncing would fail without iCloud and that local syncing no longer existed.
I am disgusted with Apple. Apple is steering itself towards the level of contempt that I have for Windows and Android. If this trend continues I will just consciously insulate myself from the mess that Apple is becoming.

Ok, great but I suspect it was still aimed at getting a non iCloud, (for whatever reason), way to sync contacts and calendars. I suspect he wasn't interested in having iClouds virtues extolled to him, or being ridiculed.

That "can pay won'y pay" stance opens the whole argument up for the kind of debate that we have seen and enjoyed for months.
I gotta admit watching the blind argue against his decision/free choice has been funny.

No
It was aimed at getting a local solution, a non iCloud solution is simple, use Google or Yahoo or any of the others.
Local sync has fewer choices, and they're either more complex, or not free.

Did you look at the title to this thread? Here it is again, if you click it you'll be taken to the first post, Whichever way you look at it, iCloud is out. Please consider not posting as a valid option before replying with something similar to diaper filler.....
How to locally sync an iPhone with OS X Mavericks? iCloud is NOT an option.'

That is what I just said, the post is about local sync, so iCloud, Google, Yahoo and any other over the internet solution is out, can't you read?
It was aimed at getting a local solution
How does that suggest iCloud to you?

You are priceless, PRICE LESS. iCloud is OUT OUT OUT! Your axe has been ground back to just the handle by now surely?
I say iCloud is out and you say it must be local, so what? iCloud is not an option. I know that last italicised bit isn't in white text so what's the problem?
Oh, make that Decaf your having into a large Espresso on me. Please.

For a solution that is not iCloud, use Gmail.

Mar 21, 2014 11:54 AM in response to Chris CAby Steve Scandalis,Yes, sending feedback through the official Apple feedback channel to provide feedback and requests to restore SyncServices and local USB/Wi-Fi syncing to OS X Mavericks and iTunes is more effective through Mac OS X Product Feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html or the similar iTunes feedback channel.
That said, notice a pattern happening even if SyncServices might eventually return to Mac OS X 10.9.x Mavericks and beyond. Countdown 4..3..2..
One by one what syncs via SyncServices seems to be shrinking. It's subtle, but the About SyncServices seems to be showing the countdown. Syncing Notes is just as important as Contacts and Calendars for many users. I'm not sure how many people with OS X 10.7.x Lion use or will miss syncing Mail Setting and Bookmarks.
About SyncServices http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5847
OS X Mountain Lion and earlier
SyncServices is included as a framework in OS X Mountain Lion and earlier. It is used to synchronize the following data:
1) Contacts, Calendars, Notes, and Mail settings between iCal, Address Book, Mail and third-party applications that utilize SyncServices with OS X Lion and earlier
2) Contacts, Calendars, and Mail settings with Calendars, Contacts, Mail, and third-party applications that support SyncServices <== Notes syncing is implied gone under Mountain Lion.
Possible future return of SyncServices
3) Possible return of SyncServices (not a given yet): If it happens, could it be only Contacts and Calendars supported?

Mar 21, 2014 11:56 AM in response to Steve Scandalisby Chris CA,I doubt Sync Services in the OS is returning.
More likely Apple adds something to iTunes (which mimics what Sync Services in the OS didi).

Done.
Just left a piece of my mind about Mavericks, iTunes 11.1.5 on the Apple feedback website.

Mar 21, 2014 1:37 PM in response to Chris CAby petermac87,They don't do that in my country Chris. You are contradicting your earlier post about answering for answering's sake. Of you are going to do creative editing just to troll here, then it says very little about your input being trustworthy.
