Yes Microsoft are much more of a user friendly company! lol So goodbye then and goodly me with Windows. You forget that Apple ARE catering to their customers, mainly the newer omer who will have longevity in a market that is moving to quickly for some older users.
It's called business.

We both know that Microsoft is not more user friendly than Apple. But I have to work with AutoCAD every day and I only have a Windows version of it. Same goes for a few other pieces of software, like 3ds max and Architrend Z. The last one alone cost more than three top-spec MacBook Pros....
But I agree that the Apple's world is changing too fast to use it as a productivity tool. It has become nothing more than a toy with a lot of bling bling on it. And that's not for me.

So, you're going to stop using Apple products because their latest OS does not suit you, and switch to a Windows PC, where you're instantly going to downgrade from the latest OS because it also doesn't suit you?
As I already said in my first comment, it's not a bout one missing feature (or even one failed OS), it is the way that Apple is going: They are moving away from professional users, merely seeing everyone as a consumer who needs to adopt whatever Apple believes is right for them.
So basically no difference to sticking with a Mac... except the money it costs you to switch. Ok.
That's right. And that's why I'm not switching today or tomorrow, but maybe in a year or two when I need a new laptop (mine is from mid 2010)
I don't recall Microsoft doing what customers wanted with the release of Windows 8, which has been a universal failure and few people even want it - yourself included.
I have never wanted Windows 8. I'm still running Windows XP on the one Windows machine I own, just to run some architecture software from which many titles aren't even available for another platform, i.e. the extremely expensive Architrend Z. So yes, I agree that Windows 8 was a failure, just like Mavericks.

Nov 7, 2013 3:38 AM in response to Gerrit7by shoot_me,Hi everyone,
I will sign of now, my inbox is full. I will finish with a slightly modified repost from page 15.
Cause is the removal of the "sync services" framework in the new OS X Mavericks.
Effects:
Sync services was used by iTunes to synchronize calendars, contacts, (and in the far past notes and reminders), between iOS devices and Macs, if these were not set to sync via iCloud. This sync happened during the iTunes sync over USB or local Wifi. With the removal of sync services, iTunes can no longer do this and users have to fall back to iCloud or other cloud services.
Problems:
Opinions voiced mention the following:
- Don't want that private information in the Cloud for for fear of hacks and abuse
- Loss of control over safety of data, server errors happen (see Amazon), and Apple will hardly pay damages. If my Mac dies and I didn't back up correctly, that is my responsibility.
- Fear of government intrusions
- iPhone 3G, original iPad and iPod touch 2G do not support iCloud and are now disconnected regarding contacts and calendar
- Legal issues concerning EU customers when storing business/client/patient/student data on non-EU servers.
- On the go with Laptop and iOS, only the latter may have internet access and they can't sync.
- Data consumption of iCloud (it once burned through my entire 300MB plan in two weeks, before I turned it off)
Solutions:
- Contact Apple through http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html in the hope of getting sync services back, one can hope ;(
- Search for THE petition to get local sync back
- Give feedback to your local government or NGOs regarding privacy in the cloud
- Use an alternative cloud service (Google, etc.) for unsupported devices
- Set up your own server in the home network
- OSX Server
- ownCloud
- open source CalDAV and CardDAV servers
- Revert to OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion (Warning: iTunes 12 will come eventually and may not support sync services anymore)
- Use iTunes in Windows (same warning: iTunes 12 will come eventually and may not support sync services anymore)
- Hope for a 3rd party solution, that will probably only work with devices that are "liberated prisoners"
- Pen and Paper
- give up and use iCloud
- Deal with it
I recently did 1,2,3, and since I don't think Apple gives an "aviating intercourse" or a "vermin's behind" about that feedback or it's customers, I won't get my hopes up and go to solution 5.1 for ease of setup in about a month or so.
Thank you for an interesting discussion (at times).

Nov 7, 2013 3:43 AM in response to Allan Fooby berlugana,As I previously wrote, I just downgraded back to Mountain Lion restoring the CCC bootable backup I'd made prior to installing Mavericks, and this went fine with me.
But I just wished to mention an alternate possibility: there are some third party softwares that enable you to extract calendars and contacts from iPhone backups made in iTunes. Then, all you have to do is save the results to iCal and Contacts...The software I have is called Mobile Sync Browser. I haven't tried the software in Mavericks, though, but if someone wishes to check...
Hoping this may help, good luck!

Nov 7, 2013 5:44 AM in response to Gerrit7by tekknosaurus,I installed Mavericks without a warning that the calendar and contact sync with my iphones is not working further, unbelievable!
I don´t use iCloud for my data and I don´t want to use it.
2 Questions:
Why apple don´t warn before cutting an elemantary function before the update? and
How can I now going back without loosing the data since the last TM Backup and wasting so much time to work it out per hand?
My hope was the complete WLAN-Sync for all data.
It´s a shame.

You installed a new operating system without bothering to find out if there would be compatibility or other issues that would affect you before hand, unbelievable!

The feature was depracated 2 versions ago! It's not Apple's fault you didn't bother to check this before you updated.

That's already been covered. Read the thread.

I just got back from the Apple store with this exact issue. I am a licensed psychologist, and iCloud is not an option since they do not comply with security rules for medical records. They had no solution for me, and they said I was the first one to raise the issue. My PC still syncs fine. Brendan
That's because Apple cares about Windows users.

Nov 7, 2013 9:19 AM in response to Gerrit7by SpriteDaddy,I refuse to use iCloud for several reasons; if my onlly option is to revert back to the previous version of OS X, then that's what'll I'll have to do.

Just trying to get a complete and correct answer ...
You updated what? iTunes to version 11.1.3 ... or ... OSX to version 10.9?
Still looking for the confirmation ...
Is there anyone who has tested iTunes 11.1.3 under OSX 10.8.x and can confirm that the INFO button is still there?

Yes. I have OSX 10.8.4 and iTunes 11.1.3. The INFO tab is still there. I just sync my contacts with an iPhone 3G. No problem.

But not by the many many millions who have downloaded mavericks to date. Otherwise tese forums would be flooded with threads on it. We have one.
To be factual ... there is more, more than one discussions on this subject. I've replied to at least 6 two weeks ago, and more popped up since.
Mostly from Mac users who were taken by surprise ... there was no advance warning to end users: not about "deprecation" of the local link service, not about the decision made to actually remove it, and no mention of the service being removed in OSX 10.9 release notes.
