Nov 12, 2013 8:57 AM in response to Gerrit7by ciu5781,But Apple had probably promised with Obama to collect customer's smart phone data and hand in to them.... I can't imagine Apple allow us to use such application.

For those people here in the "tin-foil hat brigade", Apple have just published the document below, which may (or may not) help to allay your fears about the NSA, GCHQ or whoever getting to see your Contacts and Calendars:
Report on Government Information Requests

It categorically refutes many of the more outrageous claims made by certain people in this thread.
Does anyone know where this report has gone. Click on the link and you find a "Hmm, the page you’re looking for can’t be found." message....It was definitely there on 5th Nov.....

It doesn't matter where it has gone. Such a report, published by Apple itself, is worth nothing. Such data needs to to be verified by an independent NPO before it is of any use.

Z001, I have an archived copy of that item if you're interested.
Incidentally, in a post I made back a bit I reffed two articles that indicated that 1. Apple uses Google and Microsoft servers for iCloud and 2. Google and Yahoo had their fibre links hacked by the feds and as we all know Microsoft gave the feds a backdoor into their servers long ago.
Why can't Apple deal with this the way they've dealt with the Pages hassle; respond to users and fix it.

Nov 12, 2013 2:20 PM in response to drowningindataby Drew Reece,Does nobody understand how URLS work anymore? Apple made a version update!
Click the link:
11/05/2013 Report on Government Information Requests
Or look at:
http://www.apple.com/pr/pdf/131105reportongovinforequests3.pdf
Now all you conspiracy theorists go diff the PDF's & see what changed.

....your last point made me curious, sadly no time....

Nov 12, 2013 4:22 PM in response to drowningindataby brollyjohn,Aside from Apple using Microsoft and Amazon's servers, let's not forget that email you may have received in July...
Just add this phrase "we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some of your iCloud information may have been accessed"
If you're on Mavericks, and a conspiracy theorist, you'll proabably want to delete:
/System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.NSADoubleAgent.plist
Just joking that file doesn't exist. Or does it!?!?

Nov 13, 2013 2:39 AM in response to Gerrit7by woodmeister50,In all reality, no electronic data is completely secure. Especially
if that data is communicated to others who may be very cavalier
in their approach to security.
So for those in such fear of their data here are some suggestions:
Phone:
Cannot be traced back to you, unless you use credit card.
Contacts:
Calendar:

Nov 13, 2013 5:22 AM in response to Gerrit7by MackMackz,First time I have felt the need to post on here.
Removing the option to sync over USB and forcing iCloud is completely unacceptable.
Im hoping Apple will come to there senses and reinstate this essential software.
I have used the customer feedback form and signed the petition.
