Q: How to locally sync an iPhone with OS X Mavericks? iCloud is NOT an option.

I read that OS X Mavericks will no longer allow me to use iTunes to sync my iPhone to a local system but makes iCloud mandatory? Is that correct?

iCloud is not a valid option for me since I have no control about my data there, I need to keep all my data (contacts, calendar...) on a system under my control and so far iTunes allowed me to do that which was one of the reasons I didn't even consider Android or Windows Phone.

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Why don't you say the same to those in multiple dots camp who deny others this very right?

Really ... you have not noticed already?

They are too numerous and too time cosuming, just scan the last 30 out of 60+pages.

You might have better tools to sort by user name and find the evidence quicker.

BTW, you are not the one I had in mind when writing my previous reply.

To be fair … some of the worst "go away" replies I've seen were reported and deleted.

The point was the equal rights to post within ToU scope.

Good morning all. So, what's happening? Is this issue fixed with three more pages and...........oh. Wow, who let the kids in?

This is fun, isn't it? Solving the issue for when Apple arrive and........oh they don't come here? Maybe they are running scared of Florian's lawsuit. He's more powerful than Samsung Co.!!!!!!

    Anyhow it's breakfast time here

    Catch ya later

    Thanks for the giggle

You may not get this if you are no longer following this thread, but I have started an alternative "How to" discussion (linked upthread) looking for a free open source (wifi) solution that keeps data within the user's own devices. I've tried MAMP with ownCloud, but hit an issue with ownCloud not allowing Calendars to be deleted. Next up is to try MAMP with Baikal. If you've any know how to offer, I'd be grateful for any help.

    Regards James

I think this is the wrong way and customers must deal with this different.

Apple products are not a drug. I do not essentially need them.

I have to decide whre i spend my money.

finding alterntives, backdoors or even jailbreaks again brings us where this iphone hype began.

I am the customer. It cannot be that the server (Apple) dictatesy what I should do.

If Apple narrows the customer range to those favourinf cloud computing, fine. I am out.

I deal now with Apple Germany as distributor with my lawyers to get my money back and then switch to anotehr phone with local sync.

the best way is for eevrybody to spread the information about this change in function and make people not to buy iphones. only then Apple will change its policy...
