How to change iCloud Apple ID in iPhone

Thank you so much for posting this.....I have had the same problem as Guido and it's been exasperating trying to figure out how to delete and obsolete account to replace it with the new one. I can't tell you how grateful I was when I found this post!

This is today what worked for me as I just updated my photo to IOS7 but not the last hint from Guido (oct 20, 2013)

So I was sitting here trying to delete my old account forever. It took so long, doing what you suggested worked perfectly. Thank you so much. If anyone is having trouble with their account, I strongly suggest to do this.

I am trying to do this, but it keeps prompting me to enter my password. I deleted the email account and it is no longer active. So every time I enter my password it tells me it is incorrect. What should I do?

You need to do the following:

1. Go to Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your current Apple ID. Then EDIT the Apple ID and change it back to the old ID (this is temporary - do NOT verify it, do NOT change the password): Apple - My Apple ID

2. Go to Settings>iCloud and scroll to the bottom. Click on Delete Account, and when prompted, type in your current Apple ID password. Follow the prompts to delete the account

3. Go back to Manage your Apple ID, sign in with the old ID, then EDIT your Apple ID to change it back to the new ID (you may have to verify it)

4. Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with the new ID

This helped me delete my icloud account but as I was trying to restore my phone, the apple ID edit page closed out on me and now I HAVE to verify the old email I switched back to but have no way of accessing it. And this is also interfering with my phone restoring, it wont restore to my most recent back up 😮

Not sure what you mean. Open Apple - My Apple ID, sign on with the old ID and the current password, and Edit it back to the new address.

Are you getting an error or something that is preventing you from doing that?

Dear all,

Today I've no access to previous my email, which was my apple id, as I've left the company. Fortunately, I've successfully reset and created a new apple id (using new personal email address).

However my icloud account still reflects the previous email address. My aim is to synchronise the two IDs to a common one.

I understand in the trailer above (gall from Maine), that I need to delete my icloud account. Unfortunately, I forgot the 'old password" and did a silly step to get the system to get a new password to my previous email account (which I have no access). Now when I tried to delete my old account the prompt comes up for me to input the password. Also tried remove the "find my phone" app but does not allow me to do so, without the passowrd.

Appreciate any help available. Thank you.

You would need to explain what you mean by "did a silly step to get the system to get a new password". On the four steps that I outline, where did you do this and on which ID did you do this?

I am getting an error saying the ID is "not available" since it's been used in the past. Not sure what to do from here. Also when trying to delete old icloud account on phone it says i need to turn off find my iphone but it won't let me do so without the old apple id and password that i cannot get to work!
