Hi roncee519,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here's how to delete a song on your iPhone, from the iPhone user guide:
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
Regards,
Jeremy
What if it was downloaded to my I tunes, but I want to remove it from my phone. It has the little cloud sign and when I swipe I cant get it to show delete.
YES - i need help with this too. I just unchecked "Sync Music" in iTunes under my Device Menu on my laptop, synced, and now my whole library still shows up on my phone with little clouds next to them prompting me to download. This is very annoying. I just want it all clean and clear.
This did not work for me. I see a cloud icon next to every song in the Music app. When I click the cloud icon, the song downloads. Then I can swipe and delete appears. But once I delete the song, the cloud icon reappears. I tried turnig off "Show all Music" in the itunes & App store prefs but now only half the songs appear and none respond to the swipe gesture (i.e. can't delete them). I want these songs completley off my phone and out of the music app. How do I do this?!?! this is insane!!!
same here.....can not delete certain songs from my phone....after 'getting rid of' all the music on my phone, there are still a few albums that are there with no way of deleting them that I am aware of....what's worse is that in settings, under music, it says there is no data!!....yet the "no data" plays just fine!....***???
Go to Settings > Music > Turn off 'Show All Music'
Issue resolved.
THANK YOU!!!!......that was simple...
since there are people to respond here, why am I not able to remove songs or albums from my phone while it is plugged into my laptop??....seems I should be able tojust right click on a song or songs and click delete, but this is not an option....nor is it in the menu bar....what am Imissing??....thanks in advance.
In iTunes, you can only sync. Select the Device in iTunes, then select Music form the top. Check the box to sync music then select the songs you want (or leave it on the entire library) then click Sync or Apply in the bottom right.
If you want to remove songs, you just sync again without those songs selected.
If you want to remove all songs, uncheck the 'Sync Music' box and select Sync/Apply like before.
You can maunally manage music on your device by selecting that option on your Summary screen for the device in iTunes. This will allow you to drag and drop music from your library onto your iPhone icon. Maunaully manage might give you more options you are looking for, but without that on, everything is controlled through the Sync Music menu.
If you have anymore questions, start a new post and we'll reply there so we are not blowing up this old thread. I'll mark your user so it will email me if you post something in a new thread.
Good Luck.
>> Settings > Music > Turn off 'Show All Music'
As noted before, I did this and the music is still there. Furthermore, I don't use iTunes sync and don't have a computer to sync with. The lack of a delete feature is absolutely insane.
Hey pw.
Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and tap your Apple ID and select 'Sign Out' then go back to your Music App and tell me if there are any songs showing the cloud symbol or that won't swipe to delete.
Brilliant!! content gone! I signed back in to the App store to update an app and the songs are still gone in Music. Thanks Jay-Ray!!
Anytime! Glad I could help.
awesome to log in here and get immediate expert help.....wish I had known about this 3 months ago as I have struggled at times to figure stuff out about my iphone - which is my first Apple product BTW - although I have found in life that most of my 'issues' with all things computers generally pans out to be 'operator error'....good work here tonight Jay-Ray!!
Hey there webada,
It happens to all of us. Although we all have day jobs, I know I try to come on here and help others, so I'm glad I was able to help you with this in the end 🙂
Take care!
