Where do videos need to be to share with Apple TV. Do they need to be in a certain format for them to be viewed on Apple TV

Thank you for your questions. If you would like to acces your videos from your computer on your Apple TV, the videos will need to be in the Movies section of iTunes. The following formats are compatible with iTunes and the Apple TV:


What video content works with iTunes and mobile devices?

  • Video content purchased from the iTunes Store.
  • QuickTime and MPEG-4 movie files that end in ".mov", ".m4v", or ".mp4" and are playable in QuickTime Player.
  • Video podcasts.
  • iTunes Digital Copies.
  • iTunes Store Movie Rentals (Requires iTunes 9 or later).

Once your videos are in the Movie section of iTunes, you can setup Home Sharing in iTunes and on your Apple TV to access these movies using the steps in the following article:
