Jan 15, 2014 2:26 PM in response to meatyard1970by rsbetc,Meatyard1970: Unfortunately, that's not correct. I restored my 5S as a new device but the problem didn't go away. I'm fact, Apple gave me a replacement 5S and even that has the same problem.
I will add though that both after restoring the phone as new and getting new 5S, the # of reboots per day went down from 4x to 1x.

Jan 16, 2014 10:24 AM in response to Randy Rannalsby theterrier,Hi some of you may be aware that I have had this problem for some time, well on 8th december 2013 Apple contacted me and I had to download a program from the Apple site called iphoneconfigutilitysetup. This I ran and then took some information from my phone and posted it to Apple.
I have not received any reply back and I have emailed the person in contact with me but they have not replied to my email.
I still have the problem now and again but I don't even bother with the fingerprint ID anymore just use a code. If Apple can't solve the problem or even be bothered to keep in contact then no more iphones for me I think.

Jan 17, 2014 1:48 PM in response to Randy Rannalsby Thompsr1,Hi, I'm having the same restarting problem maybe 3 or 4 times a day on my iPhone 5 and eventually being told to reconnect to itunes. I've restored my phone 7 or 8 times in the last three weeks and I've tried the DFU restore and still the problem continues. I've been to the Genius bar at the local Apple store only for them to tell me it's not a hardware problem and because I restored the phone the evening before there wasn't enough diagnostic information for them to say what the problem could be and that I should take the matter up with my contract provider - really helpfull! As It's only been happening for the last three weeks or so for me, I've also ried deleting apps and reinstalling them one by one to see if its a particular app update that's causing the problem, but again no solution. I now have to restore the phone pretty much every day :-(
I've had an iPhone for my last 3 phones (iPhone 3GS, 4 & now 5) but I'm starting to think a Samsung Galaxy could be the way forward if Apple can't find a solution to this problem that is clearly effecting so many people. Who knows when the next IOS update will be released, probably after they release the next version of the phone in 6-8 months.
Please could someone at Apple look into this problem!

Jan 17, 2014 3:04 PM in response to Randy Rannalsby frsa1984,Hello, I just wanted to add myself to the group. I purchased my iPhone 5S the day it came out. A few days later I started getting the restarts.
I would say I get 10-14 restarts a week. The same issue, I get a flicker then the black screen with the apple. I believe it is completely random. It is very annoying and inconvenient. I hope it gets fixed soon! When I have time I'll go to the apple store to see what they come up with.

Jan 17, 2014 7:33 PM in response to Randy Rannalsby Cdaddy1177,Same problem here 3-4 "mini-shutdowns" per day, only for the last week. No specific app being used, have been texting, browsing and composing email. Clearly a software issue, hopefully Apple will resolve this ASAP

Jan 18, 2014 7:27 PM in response to Randy Rannalsby szxyz1,My 5s also reboots several times per day for no reason.
Upgrading the 5s was a huge disappointment for me for several reasons:
- The Battery no longer charges as fast as my iPhone 5
- The Battery doesn't seem to last as long as my iPhone 5
- The new ios 7 is much harder to see in different environments (software not hardware)
- The fingerprint reader I have to re-program every month or so, and even when optimal, it still takes 2-3 tries to get in via finger
- Of course the small screen size, Apple seems to be 5+ years (and counting) behind everyone else
- And lastly, of course random rebooting for no apparant reason which based on replies here is a pretty common issue.

Jan 19, 2014 3:45 AM in response to iPinasby iPinas,Hi,
I picked up my iphone after being on diagnosis for 10 days, same one they didn't replace it. The apple pips reset it and they didn't experience the phone restarting. They said it could be a software issue, including my battery problem. The problem might be caused by third party apps, they explained.
So I restored my iphone, deleted some apps that could sense time (12 days of xmas, clumsy ninja, etc) and I don't experience the restarts anymore. My battery life also improved. I still use touch ID, parallax effect, the latest iOs version, etc.
Hope this helps with your problems

Jan 19, 2014 11:29 AM in response to Randy Rannalsby Javababe,I have been having problems with random restarts on a daily basis. My iPhone 5s was set up as a new phone when I bought it in September.
Yesterday I had a Diagnostics Test ran on my iPhone 5s at Apple Store, was told problem was the Springboard. He did a restore of my phone.
I guess time will tell if the restore worked!

Jan 20, 2014 3:11 PM in response to Randy Rannalsby William 5446,This has been happening to me too sometimes frequently, sometimes not very often. For me it seems to be very random -- but it can be very annoying because sometimes it happens 2 or 3 times in a row.
Has anyone seen a correlation of when it happens with the possibility of a static charge on your fingers when you touch the ID sensor?
I'm wondering if this is not a software issue and related to possible small static electricity discharges when you touch the ID sensor?
Just a thought. I hope Apple finds a solution to this soon.

Jan 22, 2014 12:11 AM in response to Randy Rannalsby Brando Braganza,Me and my colleague is experiencing this respring during touch ID entry. Mine on 7.0.4, with iTouch 3rd gen (2010) then 4s (2012) then now 5s back-up and hers is on 7.0.1 new user. It happens randomly but not more than twice daily.
Most claims that the work around is to restore the phone as new and DO NOT restore with back-up. I admit I'm lazy enough to do this and of course with lots of apps and data, anyone will think more than twice to just forget about their back-up.
My question is, is it possible to load back-up selectively (e.g. contacts, sms history, etc)? Of course, not everything in our back-ups is still needed like saves or data from apps, settings, etc...
