Q: iPhone 5S restarting itself

Anyone else having their 5S sporatically restarting itself?  So far, there seems to be no pattern, other that I'm usually playing a word game on it when it happens.

Hi Simon. I think my experience is much more complicated. My iphone 5s keep rebooting like everybody else. Especially occur when I unlock it via touch ID or switching apps by double push the home button. I had it replaced at Genius Bar last week. And after I go home, I set the replacement iphone 5s as new iPhone. The rebooting still happen. It is hardly believe that it is a hardware issue. Even AppleCare hotline suggest me visit Genius Bar to have my phone checked with staff there.

I have the same issue and happens the same when using the touch ID when I first got my 5s..

I have done a bit of testing and of cause to make my life easier when using the 5s.

    The test case I have use are as follows;

    1. Switch off Touch ID, use normal Passcode only - Problem Solve even with the first iOS version.

    2. Switch REDUCE MOTION = ON, with Touch ID = ON, Reboot Frequently.

    3. Switch REDUCE MOTION = OFF with Touch ID = ON, Works well in later iOS version, no rebooting issue

For a start, probably you could try by not using the Touch ID, see if you still get the rebooting issue. Ya, I know its ***** when we bought a phone will cool touch ID features but not able to use it.

FYI, I have only 3 finger prints ID in my 5s... Read somewhere that if you put all 5 finger prints, the system will compare all 5 id's and may crash the system.. shouldn't happen this way but, some say it can happen..

Give it a try, and if its works, probalbly you can try the combination above.

    cheers

I am having the same problem as well... My iphone 5s has the same issue, it reboots itself, showing the white screen with the apple logo. This tends to happen ironically when I most need it. for example I am using notes to write something down quickly and suddenly it reboots. Quite honestly, I am getting sick and tired of the iOS7 issues. My previous iphone 4 did not give me issues until the 3rd year of usage, actually, when I updated it to iOS7. Thinking the phone was old I "upgraded" to this iphone 5s. And this software iOS 7.0.6 did not fix anything at all... neither the battery issue.

    Simon-KL,

Thanks for your post.  I set my phone to your option 3 below and haven't had a reboot since (about a week.)  This worked for me.  I hope Apple has a fix soon.

    3. Switch REDUCE MOTION = OFF with Touch ID = ON, Works well in later iOS version, no rebooting issue

    Hi Simon.

I switched on the reduce motion but keep touch ID on. The situation became much more better. It happen only once yesterday (during the last 7 days). Maybe I spent too much time on dealing with the reboot issue. (I made tons of call to apple. And I had my phone replaced. Even the replacement phone is a brand new one, the issue still happen.) I may overreact about that. But I will keep an eye on it. See what will go next. Hopefully, apple can fix it asap.

PS. The reboot happens when I was trying to do switching between apps.

    Anyway, I appreciate your information!

The restart issue discussed here has been fixed already by apple's latest ios patch.

I have updated to OS 7.1.1 but it still happen again. I know my iPhone 5s always restart when i wake up in the morning. When i put my finger on the reader, my phone ask a password because of the phone had been restart. It also restart suddenly when i use the latest updated Facebook in around 10 minutes. My screen suddenly turn blank in blue color and the phone start to restart. After the Apple logo appears, the blank blue screen appear again and it restart again. After a few times of restarting then my phone back to normal. It never happen before this. After i update to OS 7.1.1 and also the Facebook apps, this problem come to me. How to overcome this?i have restore the OS, turn off reduce motion but it still happen again.

I'm continuing to experience the restart issue on my iPhone 5S, even with the latest iOS patch, touch ID = on and reduce motion = off.

Did a full restore and issue persists.

I too have the same problem. Have not yet updated the software but why should that happen as I was using same iOS version for 1 year in this phone. Does it have anything to do with Jailbreak?
