Checking for duplicate files

Is there a way to check for duplicate files on:
(a) a specific hard drive
(b) Between multiple (connected) external drives?

If not, is there a third party tool available that can help me do this?

Thanks!

Lucky you! My photos aveage 5 megabytes in size, and a couple of hundred can fill a hard drive quite easily. As a habit, I always create separate folders of photos that I intend to edit or to send on to clients, so that the originals are kept safe. However, I often forget to delete these secondary folders afterwards. Once I get the duplicates all cleard out, there should be no further problems, as I'll have a system in place to prevent this from occuring again.
