problems with my video ipod

ok well i used the legono dvd to ipod converter to convert a music dvd i had. well i uploaded it to my ipod. and it looks great and the sound works, however it tends to skip and it totaly kills the dvd. what can i do about it? is it because the dvd is too long? its about 2 1/2 hours. should i reconvertert it? please i need some help!
