I borrowed an old iPad mini for my trip to Europe. I loaded Smart Office to keep a journal. Now the main control bar is frozen, so I cannot save. I am willing to lose the document if necessary, but I cannot even figure out how to force quit the app. I fear if I reinstall the app I will lose my other documents. Any ideas on how to unfreeze the control bar? Thanks.

Force close apps
1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
2. Swipe the app's windows upwards to close
3. The app will fly off the screen
If it is still using IOS 6:
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal the Task Bar
2. Hold the app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close app
If the above doesn't work, try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
