I have just been given an old iPhone 3G and have never used an iPhone before. I am finding some aspects of it — and of the users' manual — confusing, so please forgive the naive nature of these two questions:
1. How can I delete one, some or all photos directly from the phone?
2. How can I delete one, some or all photos that are at present on the phone by using iPhoto when the phone is connected to my Mac?

The only photos that can be deleted directly on your phone are photos saved to your camera roll. Photos synced to your phone are removed the same way they got there, through the iTunes sync process.
