I have got an old Power Book G4, with 512 mb memory. Trying to access to netflix application that requests 1 GM ram. Any ideas apart from getting a new mac? Thank you

Does your PowerBook not take more RAM than 512mb?

Where did you get a version of Silverlight that actually installed and runs? I've got enough RAM, but the program won't run because it insists on an Intel processor...

I don't think that Netflix will run on your PPC Mac.

But if you go to any sites that have been designed for Silverlight , you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4/5. The solution is to download and install the latest version of Flip4Mac, which now includes a Silverlight component:

I love the PowerBook G4, but there are two reasons why this is never going to work.

The PowerPC G4 processor lacks the multimedia extensions in the CPU that are in the Intel processors. It simply lacks the speed to decompress streaming video fast enough, and also, HD is basically impossible on a G4.

Also, since the Silverlight specs say Intel CPU, the G4 is just not allowed at all.

So even if you got a G4 that was fast enough, and got enough RAM, it still wouldn't work.
