AirPlay causes iPad to lag

We have about 100 iPads in our high school. We have about 10 classrooms that use Apple TV and 10 Laptops that could also use AppleTV. We currently have about 10Mbps bandwidth. Some of the AppleTv's are wireless and some have ethernet connected.

IT worked fine wir several weeks but now we are having issues where when you connect an iPad tot he AppleTV the projector just shows black and the iPad becomes very very slow and laggy. But then there are some iPads, in the same room connecting to the same AppleTV that show no lag and work just fine.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

We are having the same problem and yes the software reset that Texas Mac Man suggest solve the problem, but only for a while, you can after the reset connect the iPad 3 times, but the 4. time you will get the black screen again, and you the slow iPad.

The strange thing is that when you use a cable to connect directly to a TV you can get the same problem, if you have 2 iPads you try and connect the iPads several times and change between them.

We also only see the problem on iPad 3 and iPad 4, and not on iPad 2 og the first iPad mini. We have not testet with iPad Air and the new iPad mini

I currently havn´t found any solution to this problem

I have 20 ipad airs, 2 minis and an iPad 2, all of them are connecting to an apple tv and I haven't seen this issue. To make sure im doing the same thing you are were talking about connecting the device, then disconnecting and rinse and repeat 4 times right? If so it appears to be an issue with just the iPad 3 and 4.

theAntioch, yes you are doing it the way we get the problem, but as you experience we dont get the problem on iPad 2 and mini.

Have you found a solution to this? We have the same problem. We are a school with 25 classrooms all with Apple TVs. Airplay mirroring rarely has problems with iPad 2 and minis. With iPad Air, every few days we get the blank screen and laggy behavior. Only solution has been a reboot. Very inconvienent.
