format fail in iBook Author

I have made and exhaustively tested many Keynote slideshows as part of an encyclopedic work in iBooks Author. They all worked fine and displayed just right until now.

Now they show up with what looks to be about a 32 pixel wide stripe of white on the left and right of preview playback on my iPad 3. These vertical stripes were not there previously.

Nothing I can do in Keynote seems to have an effect on them.

Is this a problem others are seeing? Previously correct displays now have side stripes?

The shows use a black background theme and are meant to play completely black. Until iOS 7, they did.

It appears that there may be a hairy bug when Keynote Meets iBooks.

Or is there something I'm just not doing right?

Aha! It turned out to be some temporary flaw in the way iBooks was working with that file.

Simply loading up a different iBook title cleared the way pages were being generated to the screen.

Reloading the failing file no longer showed the flaw.

Interesting to see that iBooks' display engine can go a little funny in the head on its own...
