itunes freezing when syncing

Hi everyone.

I've been having this same problem since I got a new computer (which is Windows 8) Itunes plays fine, But when I attempt to sync my classic then it'll sync for 100 to 3500 songs or so, and then the whole thing freezes and the only way to start it up is to unplug the ipod. I've noticed that the ipod also makes a noise sometimes right before it freezes.

If anyone can shed some light on what is going on and how to fix it thatd be great!! Thanks :-)
