"Add to contacts" from Messages doesn't work with me

Hello everyone,

When I receive a phone number by text, and I want to save it in my contacts, how do i proceed?

Here's what I'm doing : long press on the phone number, select "add to contacts", select "create new contact", I enter first name and last name, but the phone number doesnt appear anywhere... I tap "Done" , but when I chech the contact details, there is no phone numbers, just the empty contact I created...

What am i doing wrong?

I have an iPhone 5S on iOs 7.0.2 ...

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response, but the sender is not the contact to whom I want to add the phone number. The sender texted me something like "hey, here's John's number : 1234456789 " . I need to create a new contact and save his number... But it doesn't work, the new contact is saved but if I go into contacts and look at John's details, there is no number.

I tried the option "add to existing contact" but it doens't work either... I've never had this problem before...

What I did to avoid the problem is :long press on the phone number, then instead of "add to contacts" I hit "copy" then go just proceed to add contact and then paste in the number...

I think this is due to 2 things

1) os7 as I've never had this problem before

2) the phone number is 6 numbers long and not 7 (but that's how it is where I live!)

Yes, I just noticed this issue too. My friend sent me his address in a text, and I tapped on it and did "Add to Existing Contact" and selected him from the list and nothing happened. I tried a few times, and then once when I tried manually entering it, like 6 copies of the same address suddenly showed up. I deleted all but one, and then it didn't display an address anymore, even though I left one intact. I tried adding his address to a different contact using the same method and that worked, so I had to delete my contact and re-add his information fresh. Adding the address using the automatic URL in text worked after that. Ridiculous.

Hi there - I was having the same issue. Have you checked what your default is for adding new contacts? Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts, Calendars and scroll down to the contacts option. Check what your default account is listed as. Mine was listed as my exchange account. I changed it to 'On My iPhone' and that way, it will always show up in my contacts. I had my exchange contacts turned off (since I am off work right now and it's my work email) so therefore, since it was my default account, the contacts wouldn't show up unless my exchange contacts were turned out. Fixed it for me!

Now is the end of 2016 but this problem still exist. Sometime I cannot add contact any way I know: create new contact from sent shared contact, create new contact manually, update existing contact. Nothing helps. But I can see this contact in Messages and even can add it in Favourites. But I cannot find it in contacts with search or manually.
