I recently got a  new green iPhone 5c. I'm trying to restore from my last back up from my old iphone, but the 5c will not connect to itunes. The iPhone is not shown in My Computer, or in iTunes, and the phone does not show that it is plugged in (it does, however, charge normally when using the wall charger). My old iPhone 4 connects to my computer just fine but for some reason the 5c won't. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Update: I chatted with an Apple rep and after resetting the phone to factory settings with no change, we've come to the conclusion that there is a hardware error and I'll be going to get another new phone soon.

Secondary update: iPhone worked perfectly at the Apple store but still does not work on my HP. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all of the HP USB-related drivers but it has not helped.

    FIXED:

Start menu > Search "Device Manager" > Portable Devices > iPhone > Properties > Driver > Update Driver

For some reason Apple Mobile Support was showing up in my Uninstall Programs but was apparently incorrectly installed. Reinstalling iTunes did not fix. I don't know if I did something wrong while troubleshooting uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, but this is what fixed my issues. Hopefully it proves helpful for someone else.

This worked for me, but the answer is missing one step:

Start menu > Search "Device Manager" > Portable Devices > iPhone > Properties > Driver > Update Driver

    Missing Part:

    > Click "Browser my Computer for Driver Software"

    > Browse to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers"

    > click ok > next

    > Restart iTunes

    Thanks! Hope this helps someone.

The above steps completely solved my issue. Thank you! In my case, my wife's iPhone 5 would connect no problem, but my iPhone 5c would not connect.

    Now they both connect.
