Compatibility with Windows 8.1

Since the installation of the Windows 8.1 update, iTunes is shutting down when I try to reach the iTunes Store. I tried to reboot my pc and to re-install iTunes but I still have the same error. Do you have any idea? Thx

Re the signing in and agreeing the licence problem, this thread has some tips: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3793889?answerId=17849820022#17849820022

I've just tried the tip on re-authorizing your already authorized computer, and that may have worked...,

Yes: having both exited and restarted iTunes, and then rebooted my laptop and restarted iTunes, I can say that re-authorizing my laptop in iTunes has definitely made iTunes remember who I am. (Presumably until the next update when everything will go Pear-shaped again.)

All the solutions above, incl. copying the DLL, are nonsense.

I am using iTunes 11.1.3 with Windows 8.1 x64 and it works fine, even with a huge library (> 500 GB). I also have QuickTime installed. AFAIK, in the past iTunes came with QuickTime. Wouldn't be surprised if iTunes is using QT components for playback of AAC, MP3, Audible files etc.

I also had to authorize my PC again, but that was more related to the fact that the Windows 8.1 upgrade made to reconsider/redo the hack I made to move my User profiles away from the C drive to the D drive (C drive is a SSD). In order to undo this before upgrading I only managed to partially copy my old profile incl. iTunes library back to the C drive.

Update!

Running Windows 8.1 x64

Uninstalled, and reinstalled iTunes - no change.

Then followed the steps in this tech support bulletin:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

confirmed that the computer recognized the apple devices - noticed that the devices were attempting to use a realtek driver upon open. Followed the bulletin steps to reinstall the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. Had to connect both the iphone and ipad individually to reinstall. Everything working as it should now.

Good luck - hope this helps you!

Sorry - should have been a little more clear...

my computer recognized my iphone 4S only a picture storage device - but itunes could not see it, and the computer only recognized the ipad as a storage device - and also not in itunes.

using the correct drivers put everything back together again - and itunes recognizes them.

too bad fixing the obamacare website isn't this easy!!!

I've only just updated from Windows 8 to 8.1 yesterday and everything is working fine. No issues at all with iTunes, I'm still on iTunes 11.0.4.4. All my Apple devices sync as per normal - iTunes is always on and haven't experienced any crashes or other issues. Guess it was a matter of time for Windows 8.1 updates getting things right.
