My IPhone If I can't pair my iPhone with my macbook how do I use airdrop?

I have an iPhone 5 and a Macbook Pro (retina) and they will not connect via Bluetooth, and as AirDrop requires Bluetooth I can't use it - or am I missing something.

Why won't Bluetooth work between two Apple devices?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.2

The iphone 5 , with even the new ios7 latest version, and the macbook pro , with even the new Mavericks OS X, will NOT be able to communicate among them using AIRDROP. Even with both WiFi and Bluethooth turned on.

NOW, ISN´T THIS THE STUPIDEST THING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN?

THE OBVIOUS USE FOR THE AIRDROP FEATURE IS TO TRANSFER STUFF BETWEEN MY OWN MAC AND AND MY OWN IPHONE.

I LOVE APPLE BUT SOMEBODY REALLY SCREWED ON THIS ONE.

PLEASE UPGRADE IMMEDIATELY.

You can sync content between a computer and an iOS device using Dropbox, box.com, or dozens of apps. Some of the apps use bluetooth, others use WiFi, and some have cloud transfer capabilities (e.g., Dropbox). If you are looking to sync iWork files you can also use iCloud, and some newer apps also use iCloud. So there are many ways to achieve your goal; it's just that basic BlueTooth isn't one of them.

I agree with you, it's not the best marketing decision. I am wondering if it's on purpose......to confuse people like me (new IOS user).

Bluetooth file transfer is not, and has never been, a feature of the iPhone, OK with that. But...can you explain how this feature can be used on a MacBook? To connect a bluetooth mouse or keyboard? It doesn't make sense one a MacBook! 😉
