Oct 26, 2013 9:21 AM in response to micolobby elbibop48,The iphone 5 , with even the new ios7 latest version, and the macbook pro , with even the new Mavericks OS X, will NOT be able to communicate among them using AIRDROP. Even with both WiFi and Bluethooth turned on.
NOW, ISN´T THIS THE STUPIDEST THING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN?
THE OBVIOUS USE FOR THE AIRDROP FEATURE IS TO TRANSFER STUFF BETWEEN MY OWN MAC AND AND MY OWN IPHONE.
I LOVE APPLE BUT SOMEBODY REALLY SCREWED ON THIS ONE.
PLEASE UPGRADE IMMEDIATELY.

Even bluethooth is not working between my mac and my iphone, it was working like a charm with my android phone!!!

Nov 28, 2013 4:41 PM in response to marcolechtiby KiltedTim,Bluetooth file transfer is not, and has never been, a feature of the iPhone.

Nov 28, 2013 4:55 PM in response to KiltedTimby marcolechti,Thank you for your answer. Yes, you're right but I didn't know....But AirDrop is a file transfer and it's a feature of the iPhone..Right?

Nov 28, 2013 4:56 PM in response to marcolechtiby KiltedTim,Unfortunately, Apple created more than a little confusion by calling their peer to peer file transfer for iOS "Air Drop". Though they used the same name as "Air Drop" for the Mac, it is NOT the same thing. The two are not compatible with each other.

Nov 28, 2013 4:59 PM in response to marcolechtiby Lawrence Finch,You can sync content between a computer and an iOS device using Dropbox, box.com, or dozens of apps. Some of the apps use bluetooth, others use WiFi, and some have cloud transfer capabilities (e.g., Dropbox). If you are looking to sync iWork files you can also use iCloud, and some newer apps also use iCloud. So there are many ways to achieve your goal; it's just that basic BlueTooth isn't one of them.

Nov 28, 2013 5:12 PM in response to marcolechtiby KiltedTim,That's correct. Naming it "Air Drop" was perhaps, not the best marketing decision, but there's nothing we can do about that.

Nov 28, 2013 6:00 PM in response to KiltedTimby marcolechti,I agree with you, it's not the best marketing decision. I am wondering if it's on purpose......to confuse people like me (new IOS user).
Bluetooth file transfer is not, and has never been, a feature of the iPhone, OK with that. But...can you explain how this feature can be used on a MacBook? To connect a bluetooth mouse or keyboard? It doesn't make sense one a MacBook!

Nov 28, 2013 6:16 PM in response to ckuanby marcolechti,Thank you for your answer (I know the iPhone supported Bluetooth profile).
My question is about the MacBook supported Bluetooth profile. May be like I said just for connecting a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard!!!!
