how do I put music on my ipad. When I open ipad even tho I'm connected via usb my ipad is not showing up

iPad 2, iOS 7.0.2

This may be a silly question but have you installed iTunes on your computer that iPad is connected to? If not you need to download and install it.

Using the iTunes 11.1.1 program on a computer. Just sync the music collection of the PC onto the device.
Purchasing tunes directly from Apple using the iTunes app on the device.
