When I add a contact, I notice I can save it as iphone or mobile, I thought this may be so my iphone knows to text as an imessage but when I save as mobile it knows anyway.
What is the difference in these options?

I no longer have the option of the mobile number to be an iPhone number? Why is this? Initially it came as an option but now it comes up with about 10 options when I choose add phone and iphone is not one of these options?
Hi Lawrence, I probably have deleted it, however I can not find "add custom label" in any of the fields. And also it is not on the list. It's not possible to scroll down further. Anyway I've figured that my iphone will send texts as a SMS and if the recipient has a iphone also then when they reply to me it comes back as an iMessage! Wow! Thanks for your help.
The labels are just a reminder to you; iOS doesn't use the information. If it matters to you that the number is an iPhone then choose that.

You probably deleted it accidentally. Just add it back using "add custom label". Or scroll down further on the list and you will probably find it.
