Apple RGB VS Color LCD

Hi all,

Just curious what is the differences between these 2 profiles? All i can see is some color tone differences.

BTW, what is the purpose of having diff color profiles?

Those tone differences are the exact differences that make those two different profiles. Profiles are color corrections in a sense, they make sure that the color you capture with your camera is what you see on screen and is what you see on your printer and in your scanner. They calibrate all your equipment so that consistent colors are obtained.

The generally accepted "standard" in the world of photography is usually the Adobe RGB (1998) profile. Unless you are very serious about photography / graphic arts, I wouldn't really bother playing around with these settings. A lot of them only change subtle things (such as the particular shade of green) and in the end won't make THAT big a difference to a non-pro.

The colour profiles are originally designed to sync the colours of your monitor with the colours on your printer, so what you see is what comes out of the printer. You might also have an additional profile closer to NTSC television in case you are doing video work.

It also adjusted for aging phosphors, if you were using an older CRT display like an AppleVision.

I don't know if anyone actually used ColorSync for that.
