I can't download Mavericks...

I'm having issues as well on a Mac Mini (Mid 2011) running Lion 10.7.5...

It allowed me to selected Mavericks from the App Store and it appeared it start downloading it. After a few hours of no progress, I rebooted in order to try again. Now when I select it from the App Store it allows me to "Install App", however, it just sits there and does nothing. On the Purchases page, it is listed with just a gray icon on the right - no wording. Doesn't appear to be doing anything. I can click it, but it doesn't change anything.

I've tried rebooting and shutting down. Each time I start over at the "Free Upgrade" and "Install App", then nothing.

Any ideas?

Hello, you should monitor either by watching your modem or by opening the Activity Monitor.app in the Utilities folder in your Mac. Selecting Network will show you whether the downloading is in progress or not. Greetings

Hey toddjb, you might want to try resetting your App Store.

1. Quit App Store.
2. Open Terminal.
3. Execute this: defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
4. Launch App Store.
5. At the Menu bar, there should be a "Debug".
6. Click on that and press "Reset Application"
7. Restart App Store.

I am running 10.6.8 and this is what my app store download progress looks like. I have tried debugging the app store and am not sure how else to view my download progress without launchpad. I have tried restarting my computer and other methods but to no avail. ???

Hi - I am having the exact same issue trying to upgrade from iMac (7,1) running 10.6.8. I even purchased and installed the extra Memory needed to make sure my computer was compatible for the upgrade. From the App Store it seems to timeout when I click Install App, and I get the same grayed out button as well on the Purchases page.

Any suggestions from anyone who was successful on a 10.6.8 upgrade? Thanks.

I have the same issue too. A greyed out box in the downloads part of the app store, so Im not sure what is on it. Resetting the appstore application using debug takes me temporarily to the download icons and it says downloading, but then if Ieave there, I cant get back there again. Anyway, its not downloading. Its not doing a ****** thing.

Im on 10.7.5 and have a macbook air from mid 2011.

Can anyone help me here? As far as I can see I meet the system requirements to upgrade to Mavericks but yet it won't do it.

At a guess, I'd say it is that hack of a BOOT ROM you are running that is the issue. You will not get support for illegal installations of OS X here - OS X is licensed for Apple branded hardware (and Apple Boot ROM's) only.

Also, there never was any such machine as an i5 Mac Pro, so you are clearly running a hackintosh system.

I should've added more information. I have bought an official Snow Leopard DVD, hoping to create a vmware out of it.

Is it also an illegal installation if you create a virtual machine out of an official DVD?

If the virtual machine is not on an Apple computer, yes, it is illegal.

You cannot download and install OS X Mavericks form the Apple App Store and run it on non-Apple branded hardware. Virtual machine or not, the installation is only licensed for Apple branded hardware.

please help i couldn't upragrade to mavericks. My macbook air running Lion 10.7.4 right now, and everytime i try to upragrade App strore kept telling me i have to uprgade Macbook flash storage 1.1 first. I downloaded it then when i tried to install it, it said i have to run at least in mac os x 10.7.5. Does this mean i will never could upgrade my mac to mavericks? help me please D:
