With the Finder window showing the pictures on the thumb drive, press cmd+A to select all the files. Ctrl+click on one of the highlighted picture then select Open with Preview. Once in Preview, select the View menu then Slideshow

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. One option would be to make a slideshow in iPhoto after importing the photos. Here is how to import:

I want to look at a friends pictures that she has on a thumb drive. We put drive in my MacBook Air and could only open and close one at a time. I don't want to save her photos or create my own slide show with her pictures. I just want to look at them full screen without opening and closing each individual pic. How can I do that?
