iMac wont boot up after recent java update help??????

After a recent java update, went to turn my mac on for first time after shut down after update and now it wont start up. Turn on but wont get past screen displaying appleicon, turning wheel and status bar. Status bar moves as if starting up but gets to the end and nothing happens.

Have tried turning on/off, unplugged etc and nothing???
