Mavericks is slowing my machine drastically.

Is this true even after Spotlight has finished indexing all the new files?  If so, launch the Activity Monitor utility, select the "CPU" category, then click on the "% CPU" heading until the top CPU users are at the top of the list.  Continue to work until things slow down, then see what's consuming CPU time.

No kidding.  I really miss Smith Micro's Network Spy Blockade; last OS usable was Snow Leopard.  I contacted Smith Micro and they claimed no one wanted or even asked for it.  We know the real reason....

It was rubbish and couldn't stand the advancement of the modern OSX. Hasn't been able to be installed on Mac systems in the last two and half years.

I don't call a program that stopped processes from 'phoning home' rubbish.

That one was. Little Snitch is even better. At least it can keep up with technology.

Thanks for the heads up - will give it a try.  CNet had some interesting comments about it.

Ah OS upgrades are so much fun.  But this is really 'fun' one.

MBP 17" 3,1. Did the 4.59GB upgrade to 10.9.  After running fine for three days, boots up to grey screen, progress bar at bottom of screen(good ol PPC Mac OS ext. style), but just before the end, MBP goes totally bland and silent. Tried three times, same crash and silent death.  Reboot in single user mode, used AppleJack, no joy.  Connected the time machine ext. drive, a Mercury OWC on the go drive, restored from last backup, took almost four hours, but almost everything back on track.  Both browsers still had all the tabs in all the open windows.  Safari 7.0 is fast, but has problems dealing with cookies and multiple windows...maybe it needs some milk?  Anyways, maybe it was the seagate hybrid drive 750GB?  oh well, live dangerously... :-P

Please start your own thread as your issues are different than that of the OP and will only confuse this thread and give you less help with your individual issues.

    Cheers

Instarted to download last night but then turned off my computer and went to bed. THis morning I have tried to restart downlaod and all I get is the Install App Button and get no further, I've tried restarting and refreshing the screen. Nothing so far works.

What happens if you try booting into "safe mode"?
