Yes it is telling me I need to repair my disk but when I try to repair it wont let me. Weird

I just upgraded nearly all my computers to OSX Mavericks and now Apple Remote Desktop isn't working.

Admin can't start.

The Remote Desktop administrator software does not match the installed client software version.

You will need to do that repair while booted from a drive OTHER than the one your current OS is installed on. If you have install media, boot from that and run Disk Utility there. If you have a newer machine without it, reboot and hit either <Cmd-R> or <option> after the chime, choose Recovery HD for your boot volume, and then run Disc Utlity on your HD/SSD.

Installing now. Only issue was the next step after I received the "downloaded" window. I looked around and found the installer in the applications folder.

2012 iMac will not install. Ran disk utility before installation but tells me to repair disk. I boot using cmd+R and try to repair disk but utility stops and says that disk cannot be repaired. When try to reinstall mountain lion it does not allow that either and says disk is locked. Upon restart goes straight into new OS installation mode. When I ask to restore from backup nothing happens. Any ideas?

I have a new mac mini with a fusion drive, and the software doesn't want to install on the drive. Tells me my hard drive doesn't use the GUID Partition Table scheme. Whatever that is. The fusion drive is two drives acting as one, but I can't be the only one having this problem. Anyone? I'm sure Apple sold a lot of these drives.

Meanwhile, I'm backing up my hard drive before I fiddle with it any more.

Connected external USB hard drive directly to iMac and it lets me download mountain lion onto that. Hoping to use that as the boot disk as per

It has worked and I have been able to retrieve all my files. Shall now do a clean install.

Boot into the Recovery volume (hold down the Command + R keys and boot), OS X: About OS X Recovery, and repair the disk and permissions from there. Then reboot normally.

Went without a hitch. The ONLY gripe I'd have is that one of my old favorite iTunes visualizers can't be used anymore because iTunes CAN'T be run in 32 bit mode anymore.
