After I updated to 10.9, the fan of my Macbook Pro keep spinning at high speed.
Secondly, I cannot open iPhoto which said I need to update the iPhoto to the latest version.
However, the app store does not have the update when I clicked the update button…
Now , I cannot use iPhoto… even I re-install it from CD...

You might want to try to open iPhoto again ...I just updated to 10.9 and due to your post tried my iPhoto and it opened successfully.
WHAT version of iPhoto is it? I have '11 and it works in 10.9.

it was the most up-to-date iphoto 11 before I up to 10.9..
It woundnt open
so I uninstalled it and re install it from iphoto 11 CD then it direct me to update to the latest version which does not exist in app store..

Apple is selling version 9.5 in app store and it said it should be free for everyone....now it is still at £13.99...etc

I bought the disc version not through the app store... I cant download it without paying another £13...
Installing 9.4.3 solved the iPhoto issue for me, but the fan is still blowing hard.
Because my Iphoto isn't working, "You Can't use this version of the application "iphoto" with this version of OSX. You have "iphoto" 9.2.3. "

iPhoto 9.4.3 works with Mavericks 10.9

If you installed iLife from disc, you may need to use the Software Update tool to get updates to your apps to be compatible with Mavericks. The App Store downloads are only for App Store purchases.
