I just upgraded to the new numbers. I can't open an existing spreadsheet - it can't be opened. I can create a new spreadsheet but when I try to open that I get the same error - it can't be opened.
Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it a bug in the new numbers?

I also have the same issue, pages is having the same issue.
I had this problem with both pages and numbers so I closed all the background apps did a reset by holding down the home and power buttons and now they both work.

I've opened documents on my iPhone yet when I try to open the same document on my iMac... it wont opne stating that I need the newer version, which I have done. Ive tried restarting my computer...
I've upgraded numbers to version 3.0 yet it still states v2.3...

This did not work for me. I have an iPad2 with the current version (as of Oct 2014) of Numbers using IOS 8.02. I imported an Excel spreadsheet over a year ago that had macros and several sheets within (for budgeting). As of yesterday, 07 Oct 2014, this spreadsheet now looks like this when I open
Numbers on my iPad and when I try to open index Numbers tells me the spreadsheet can't be imported, the file format is invalid. How can that be since I have been updating it weekly for over a year!
