Loss of Perspective, Scale and other 3D animations with Keynote '13/Mavericks?

Having just updated my MBP, my nicely animated Keynote pitch has defaulted to "dissolve" animation... ugh... one step forward, two steps back...

Some of the other unique and special Keynote animation are gone... I assume that this is lost functionality for the cause of device compatibility, that said... These really gave a nice look and polish...

Please advise if it's possible to uncover these nice effects!

I have most of the same animations in both versions. I don't have Perspective though.

It might not be a perfect solution but check your Applications folder for an iWork 09 folder. I found all my old apps in there after the update. You could open the old files in the old Keynote, as long as you have backup copies that you haven't opened in keynote 13.

Absolutely disgusted at the loss of these transitions. This sort of feature made keynote head and shoulders above PowerPoint and a major feature differentiator. Taking these away is a MAJOR step backward and frankly the replacements are poor.

Bring these transitions back. I love going forward with my hardware and software but I'm going back to Keynote 09 to get the Keynote I love.

Completely agree... These Core Animation-based effects were true differentiators for Keynote. It was nice to be able to stand apart from the PowerPoint lemmings...

Hoping that Apple can quickly bring these back with an update...

And where are the options of some animations ?  Have to go through my whole keynote and modify it just because of an update...

After waiting almost 4 years for a Keynote upgrade, this is what we get? What a disappointment!

I've been trying to see if there was an option to include old animations (like in Keynote 09), but I can't find it.  The new animations don't make up for the loss of so many of the old 3D animations.

I do hope they bring them back with an update...

just one of the many steps backwards:

    - can't drag an image from safari into keynote

    - shortcuts changed on all iwork apps changed ... randomly as far as i can tell

    - can't insert symbols and characters anymore?

    Apple created gorgeous looking garbage...

We perhaps need to start a page for functionality in Keynote that's been removed. Much as they have for Pages.

If you want to have fun, try inserting audio into the project from the Setup tab... and then try to remove it. Did the developers actually think no one would ever consider removing the audio???

    This is frustrating

I can drag an image from Safari into Keynote. I just dragged the image for your avatar with no problem. What happens when you do it?

I can also insert symbols and characters, they just moved it. It's under "Edit" -> "Special Characters..." I think that's the standard place for it now.

It's like you are using a different program -- or perhaps the earlier version? When I drag in an image all I get is a textbox with the URL (which by the way I can't even select to delete), and I am pretty sure there is no "Edit" - "Special Characters" option - here is a screenshot

I just recreated what you may be seeing. If you click and drag an image into a TEXT box, it's assumed you want the text of the URL. However, if you remove all text boxes from the screen then try again, it should be coming over as an image.

In this screenshot, I selected all the objects first so you could see the outline of the text box on the default slide that I dragged into.

Look at the VERY bottom of the screenshot you just posted. Under Find, Spelling, Substitutions... under Start Dictation.

Ok I admit I am a little blind when it comes to special characters. Here is what I am seeing when I drag an image:

By the way there are no textboxes in case you are thinking I am accidentally dragging it into one.

The behaviour is both unexpected and unwelcomed. What's worse, I can no longer do a simple copy and paste of an image from Safari into Keynote. I have never used dragging from Safari but, after copying, it open a useless text box...

Let's remove all the variables. Open a new White presentation. Choose the Master that's Blank, then try a drag and drop. Also, tell me which theme you're using and I'll try that as well.

So you installed Keynote 6 ?

Too bad, 3D animations have gone (among others) the way of the Dodo...
