Q: Can't connect to SMB share after upgrade

I'm on the latest Beta of 10.9.1 and it has fixed my SMB problem of not being able to connect to the shares on our SBS2008 server at work.

SMB2 is working fine for me.

What are you trying to connect to?

Since the move to Mavericks if I connect to shares on a Windows 7 system using my Mac, those shares are no longer accessible by systems such as a WDTV. Only rebooting the Win7 machine fixes this.

However, using the CIFS work-around, thereby using the older SMB1 approach, this issue does not occur.

Similar issue with Synology NAS - turns out it was a bug in Synology which was fixed with an update. Have you reported the bug to Microsoft and Apple?

I have the same problem.

After upgrading for Mavericks, my Mac doesn't connect on my server Linux Samba.

The both options of http://cammodude.blogspot.com doesn't work for me.

With cli command:

mount_smbfs: server rejected the connection: Authentication error

Based on that, looking forward to the release of 10.9.1 to see if they've fixed the issue.

To AlienCamel, no, I've not personally lopgged the issue, but have come across other sites and posts of actual Apple developers who state they have. My issue isn't as serious as others who cannot connect at all. My issue is that once I connect with my Mavericks machine, I've killed many other devices from connecting to them. Issue did not exist in previous OS X that used SMBx.

Has anyone upgraded that can confirm this issue with SMB2 was indeed resolved?

What SMB2 device are you trying to connect to?

Linux Samba integrated with Active Directory Windows 2003 Server

Samba version 3.2.5

Using Winbind and NTLM.

Thanks for the feedback. When I get the chance next week, I'll upgrade and re-test my issue. (I can replicate the defect by connecting to file shares on a Windows 7 PC, which immediately kills the connection my WDTV has/had to those same shares).

i have 2 macs and 2 pcs sharing a NAS D-Llink DNS 320 that was working properly before updating on Maverick as everyone here, and of course now it's not working anymore on both of the macs!

I tried to connect as CIFS but no result! In fact we're able to get connected, open and read any file on the NAS but all the rights to write seems to have been deleted!

I can't rewrite or delete the files on the NAS from the Finder, even connecting with the good users ID, and still can do it from PCs.

On the NAS, by checking the file informations, the recorded users aren't shown.

I ve been calling Apple & D-Link but no answer or solution. I also tried to check the "User authentification methods list" as explained here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4700?viewlocale=en_US

and get no list!

Force relaunch finder via the force-quit window. Easiest SMB/SMB2 issue workaround.

I also had problems to connect with my Synology nas with smb2. You still could force tho old smb protocoll by connecting with cifs. In the mean time, Synology fixed the problem on their side.

But, since the upgrade to Marvericks 10.9.1, I can not connect to that mac over smb or smb2. I still can connect to the nas though. The problem is that my passwordt is no longer accepted when logging in with sbm or smb2. (my password still works with afp, so its no password problem)

smb is now the default between two Marvericks macs, so logging in to my other mac with bounjour, it tries to make the connection with smb and fails.

Anyone having similar experiences?
