Unable to install Mavericks on dual boot drive...

I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. My HD is partitioned to dual boot Ubuntu.

I've recently downloaded Mavericks and tried to install it but I get the error: "This disk cannot be used to start up your computer."

I've already checked my root directory for any backup files (even though I use an external firewire drive for Time Machine backups).

Has anyone else had issues with installing on a dual boot drive?

Thanks in advance!
