Q: Is Mavericks making your machine run slow?

I downloaded Mavericks this afternoon and installed it on my iMac i7 24GB RAM Everything seems to be slow in transitions from one app to another and many apps stall for severeal minutes as if the processor is playing catch-up. Thoughts? Should I just reinstall the update?

To be completely honest you should not hav upgraded if your machines are mssion critical. upgrading on release day really is foolish unless your machine is for basic low level use.

Roll back to ML and learn from this. Oh and by the way those programs you listed as being affected. Apple does not own or control them but have been encouraging vendors to develop ther apps for Mavericks. it is them you should focus your attention on.

Next time wait until the venodrs of the software apps your income depends on release an update and state that they support mavericks.

I'm using MacBook Pro 15 inch early 2012 8 gb ram and SSD . After upgrading to Mavericks, my mac is also running slow! too. I don't understand why, mail slow, switch between app...slow.. everything is slow, memory usage seems higher...

I'm going to make a clean install...if slow persit.. I back to Mountain Lion.

I upgrade from Mountain Lion 10.8.5

I called apple, we did some modifications but it is not better.

A second call to apple and they proposed to come back with old os (SN).

They proposed to wait and to install next index of Mavericks.

Now I have to wait to let time to time machine to come back as yesterday.

    Regards,

Try uninstalling any third-party system modifications. You can use Etrecheck to list what you have installed. Any StartupItems, LaunchDaemons, or LaunchAgents are suspect with a new OS.

Hi guys. I'm facing the same constrains has most of you seem to be facing.

    I have a Late 2012 iMac 27” (i7 3,4 GHz, 24GB Memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX with 2GB, 1TB Fusion Drive) .

Last night I did a clean install of OSX Mavericks.

The installation was kind of slow, but I guess this is quite normal. After the installation and initial configuration and setting up my system, I started noticing some slowness on the system response. For instance, something that is pretty basic like previewing an JPG image by using the spacebar with a file select takes a few good seconds to preview it (even the color wheel shows up) and this is something that was almost, or to be honest, instant to have.

I also find the system take a few good seconds more to boot up since I've installed Mavericks.

I haven't installed any system enhancements at all, just some quite basic tools like iphoto, keynote, Lightroom 5.2.

    Any thoughts ??

I'm guessing being an early adopter has it's pain points .....

Thanks for your comments, in advance.

    Hi,

It's me again. I've successfully clean-installed the Mavericks. Everything went fine like when I use the Upgrade method. The system is working properly without a slowness or any problem. This is my result. Hope yours will run better after the clean-install.

PS. I used Time Machine and Migration Assistant to restore all my files and settings.

    Cheers!

Have you tried restarting the Mac, or restarting in safe mode and then shutting down and starting up again?
