Screen Flickering while scrolling after update to Mavericks.

My Macbook Pro 13 inch, Mid 2012 with i5 and 4 GB RAM is having problems after updating to Mavericks. The screen keeps on flickering when I scroll through basically anything. This even happens while changing desktops. Is anybody having this problem?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Quite surprisingly, this worked for me too!

I didn't even need to fully-install (i.e., activate) AutoCAD 2014.

In fact, I installed it as a trial and then I uninstalled it.

Apparently, all the flickering problems that I had (both in the Dock and in any other application like Safari) disappeared!

Also, I've to say that I started Xcode 5 for the first time after upgrading to Mavericks and it downloaded/installed some upgrades (i.e., maybe some graphics lib?!?) it required (I run Xcode while trying to fully-activate AutoCAD...).

So my final guess of this story is that an "obsolete" Xcode might be the reason of our flickering issues.

Just to give it a try, simply update Xcode *before* even trying to install AutoCAD and see what happens. If this will solve the problem then you won't even need to install AutoCAD!

Thanks to everyone 🙂

I understand Andy's frustration. This is not really a good fix, (although it somewhat worked for me as well). Every time the issue recurs I have to mess around with autocad for a bit. This issue has been going on for a long time and osx updates have not solved anything yet.

On a side note, does anybody think that autocad causes the problem in the first place? I had autocad installed before the screen flickering mavericks update.

update: I had the same problem for about three months, from the day that I installed mavericks on my 1st gen 15" rMBP. IT moved my harddrive into three different computers and the graphics card issue pursued, meaning it was a software corruption, not a hardware issue. Ultimately: they backed up my data, wiped the entire computer blank and rebuilt it from scratch (i.e. reinstalled Mavericks after wiping any corrupted user profile settings) then loaded my files back onto the computer. Since then, I have not had any issues with the screen flickering or producing strange artifacts in arbitrary places. Installing Autocad wasn't strong enough to fix the issue.

Good luck!
