Oct 23, 2013 10:52 AM in response to Mike '77by nerval,I wouldn't dump anything until this all gets fixed. Did you try the update projects and events command?

Oct 23, 2013 10:54 AM in response to forzaf1by etaggart,I agree. iMovie 10 seems to have taken a step backward.. My events are no longer sorted by date and it seems that the entire interface is watered down..
I guess you get what you pay for...

Oct 25, 2013 6:00 AM in response to etaggartby Senorgreg,OK, so I had to force quit my update process and could not for the life of me figure out how to have iMovie find my old events and projects. I was stuck with an empty libary.
Thanks to @etaggart, just thought I would make it more simply explained:
- Quite iMovie 9 and 10 if open.
- Go to the folder: ~/Movies/iMovie Events
- Delete the file ~/Movies/iMovie Events/UpdatedToiMovie10
- Go to the folder: ~/Movies/iMovie Projects
- Delete the file ~/Movies/iMovie Projects/UpdatedToiMovie10
- Restart iMovie 10.
iMovie should now re-start the process of importing your events and projects.
- Quite iMovie 9 and 10 if open.

Nov 20, 2013 2:34 PM in response to Senorgregby Carlos_P.,iMovie 10.0.1 has been released to address reliability issues when updating projects and events from previous versions of iMovie. Specifically, iMovie could appear to stop responding or quit unexpectedly during the update process.
If you encountered these issues, you should now be able to update your projects and events successfully. To do this, visit the link below and follow the instructions listed in the section "If updating is interrupted or takes an extended period of time."

Nov 22, 2013 3:26 PM in response to etaggartby DickSwee,Carlos,
I removed all the files you identified, but iMovie 9.0.9 projects do not all import into 10.0.1. iMovie 10.0.1 says there are files missing and can't import all the projects. Yet they are clearly in the iMovie folders and iMovie 9.0.9 can open them with no proble.
iMovie 10.0.1 also loads very slowly.
I am running Mavericks on MacBook Pro Retina 15".

Dec 13, 2013 8:47 PM in response to Carlos_P.by Mikejwalk,Thanks Carlos. Unfortunately this didn't work for me. I've followed the instructions to the letter and still a no go. I've got a 2012 MacBook Pro w/ the latest iMovie and patches from Apple.
iMovie opens fine but when I upgrade my projects and events it goes through the process and crashes half way through.
Hoping there is another workaround or patch coming from apple real soon.

Dec 14, 2013 10:35 AM in response to etaggartby nerval,Perhaps trashing the preference file would help: user/<username>/library/preferences/com.apple.iMovieApp.plist

Dec 22, 2013 6:53 PM in response to nervalby Mikejwalk,Unfortunately I tried trashing the preference file, followed the instructions with the link provided But I still have the same issues with iMovie crashing while updating projects and events.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Dec 23, 2013 7:37 AM in response to Mikejwalkby nerval,Did you try restarting after deleting the preference file and the library and the "UpdatedtoiMovie10" files in the projects and events folders before initiating the update?
