Boot Camp Assistant on Mavericks Unable To Download Windows Support Software

Upon loading Boot Camp Assistant I select to "Download the latest Windows support software from Apple" as well as "Install Windows 7". I pop in my USB formated to FAT and hit "Continue" It attempts to download the windows 7 support software when I receive an error message:

"Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server".

I've had the same error message for 10 days now since I did a fresh install of Mavericks GM on my new 'old' Mac Pro 2008. I assumed that the final GM release would provide the download once released but the Bootcamp 5.1 drivers for the Mac Pro 3,1 are still not available.

Hurry up Apple I need them to setup a fresh bootcamp install!

Hi,

Although the Bootcamp Driver download function in OS X Mavericks seems to be broken, you can still get the appropriate Bootcamp Drivers for your Mac by finding your Mac model and clicking on the Bootcamp Driver version links found in the support article here:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634

The version links will get you to the appropriate download page at the Apple Support Downloads section.

If you need any assistance finding the right model, just reply to this message and I'll do my best to get you to the right download package.

Let me know how this goes.

That's the bootcamp 5.0 installer. As I have to enable AHCI through patching the mbr for SATA 2 and the extra two ports it's not a simple case of just reinstalling 5.1 over 5.0. Because as soon as the mbr is patched and windows uses AHCI the control panel becomes unusable. It's a one time installation as my Mac Pro 3,1 will never have a newer version of bootcamp I'm left in limbo for Apple to pull their finger out and release 5.1, either from the software update server or sticking the drivers on the bootcamp section of the support website.

Not amused :-(

Hello Gav,

The latest version for the Bootcamp Drivers released by Apple is version 5.0 depending on your Mac model so, far there is no available information to conclude that Apple plans or is working with a Bootcamp Drivers 5.1 update.

And to what 5.1 are you referring? Because I think you are mentioning the version of the OS X Bootcamp assistant which is currently v5.1 and it is the app that allows you to create a Windows Partition and boot to the Windows installation media.

Has anyone been able to successfully use Boot Camp Assistant v5.0.xxx?

While I recognize that I can download the drivers on my own, it doesn't address the problem that Boot Camp Assistant stops the installation/setup process when it fails to download the appropriate drivers/software.

Is there a way to bypass the use of BCA and get started on an install? For example, can I create my own partition, load necessary drivers, etc. without BCA?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, you can bypass the driver download part in Bootcamp assistant by unchecking the box to the side of "Download the latest Windows Suppport Software from Apple" and leaving only the "Install Windows 7 or later" option checked.

Hi, I have Mid 2010, MacbookPro 13".

I've recently updated to Mavericks, erased pen drive with required format, copied Bootcamp 4.X(i've tried 5.X but won't work).

Unchecked "Download the latest..." and checked the "Windows 7...".

Immediately it says "The installer disc could not be found". I'm new to Mac, so, i put Mac OS X install DVDwhich came with it(then i read windows installer disc which i don't have and here i'm asking for help :-))..!

I have 3 partitions on my iMac v10.1. The "BOOTCAMP" 64Gb partition is formatted with FAT32. Since "Download the latest............." never works, I've downloaded the drivers manually on an USB.

When I launch the BCA v5.1, it checked the "Download the latest............." by default. After I unchecked it, the option "Install or remove Windows 7 or later version" is dimmed.

I could not proceed either way. Appreciate any help.

Thanks.
