iPhoto library upgrader

Hi, I had iPhoto '08 (7.x) and I purchased the latest iPhoto '11(9.5). When I launched it, it asked that I download "iPhoto Library Upgrader" because my library needed to be prepared for the upgrade. I followed to link to download "iPhoto library upgrader 1.1" that is said to upgrade iPhoto 7 library. Once that tool downloaded it notes that it is only version 1.0 and that it won't update my library because it is superior than version 5. So basically I can't open iPhoto no more, does someone have a solution?

Thanks

There's been an error on the downloads page and the old upgrader is linked. I'll send a bug reprot to the Hosts of this forum so they can contact those in change of that website.

Runic77 I am so pleased that this solves your problem. But I've followed all the instructions on this discussion (including loosing and finding my photo folder). But nothing seems to work.

Anyone got any ideas? The upgrader seems to be the problem. I have 1.1 but it doesn't appear to be working.

All help most gratefully received.

Dear Old Toad

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately it did not work.

I did this:

First I went to Finder > Go > pressed the alt key to reveal the library and the library did not have anything called iPhoto.

So then I went to finder > users > [user] > pictures > iPhoto library and double clicked.

I got the message “ your file needs to be prepared use iPhoto library upgrader”.

So then I right clicked on the iPhoto library clicked on open with > applications > utilities > iPhoto upgrader

the upgrader then opens with a pretty screen I clicked “continue”

I then got the message “there is a problem with one or more of your files. Do you want iPhoto to repair permissions?

You bet I thought, so I pressed “repair” > entered my password waited just 3 seconds in hope…. and got the message your library can now be upgraded.

I pressed “launch iPhoto” and got the message “ to open your library use iPhoto upgrader".

I have gone around this circle about 10 times at least. I’ve downloaded the upgrader at least twice…..

My daughter got married last month and all our photos are stuck inside this file. So I am especially keen to get them to open… it would earn me (and any wise guys out there) a brownie point or 2 (do you have Brownie points in the US?) from my wife. We are both very keen to be seeing our photos again.

Any wise advice gratefully received.
