iWork apps crash in 10.9

I just made the iWork 09 run on Mavericks... Did a clean reinstall from the DVD file and manually updated to 9.3 form the Apple website (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563) and now it works fine, it even gave me popups on first run that i should update to the new versions but after clicking "update now" it takes me to the AppStore and i can't update them...

I got it to work like this:

Go to Fontbook

Click File > Restore System Fonts...

It will move non-standard fonts to a separate folder, but after doing this Pages, Keynote and Numbers all WORK!!

You can go back and Add back the fonts it removes and they still seem to work.

I found that if I added back the fonts it stopped the apps working again. I just repeated then "Restore Standard Fonts" and it seemed to work. I am now selectively adding back fonts I use rather than taking the whole folder back in.

This worked for me, thanks for figuring this out, can finally see what all the fuss is about :-)

Worked for me as well! I'll add my fonts back into the user folder in a bit and see if it still works.

Account Permissions: (in my case)

The accounts home folder permissions had been set to Read Only for the account owerner (how does the owner get set to Read Only, makes little sense for such a need however it is a computer)

Settting permissions back to Read and Write and applying them down fixed all my problems. Everything now is working as it was before the upgrade to Mavericks.

I have a Macbook Pro 17" 2.8Ghz Intel core 2 Duo with 8Gb Ram....

I can´t run any of the iwork apps I updated.

If You are not working on English system, change it in preferences, restart OS X and the apps should update. If You want to stay on the old versions, the crash appears to occur only when You have some non standard fonts in the font folder. Remove them.

msorsaleslie Thanks for the tip! this worked for me right away, and I actually didn't notice any fonts getting moved. I took a quick look and they all seem to be there.

Fonts thing worked for me 🙂

Beware, removing non standard fonts and putting them back will erase your custom collections.

And, btw, it doesn't make sense to perform this kind of operations on a computer that is dedicated to design, in which fonts are a key asset.

This is an absurd bug that basically makes the new iWork unusable for me and many other users.

Ever thought why Apple left the old applications along with the new ones?
